On Sunday, Sept. 1, 1895, at 10:30 a.m. at the home of the bride in LaCygne, Kans., Mr. Warren Pickett of Pleasanton, and Miss Victoria Hesser of LaCygne. The bride and groom left on the afternoon train for Kansas City. The groom is a son of our townsman, J.O. Prickett and is an honest upright young man of more than usual business ability and is destined to become one of Linn county's young business men. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Hesser formerly a resident of this city and is an estimable and highly respected young woman.     3. The Colby Free Press Thomas County Thursday April 13, 1916 Catharine GILBERT, born December 29, 1861 at Concord, Morgan County, Illinois. United in marriage, March 29, 1879 to John S. SMITH at Jacksonville, Illinois. To this union were born six children, two dying in infancy. Moved to Gem, Kansas, March 1889 at which place she resided until her death, April 8, 1916. Age 54 years, 3 months and 9 days.United with the German Lutheran Church while young, later with the Methodist Episcopal Church ast Gem at which place she was a faithful member at time of her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, husband, one daugher, three sons, two brothers, one half-brother, one sister and seven grandchildren besides a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church by Rev. O.N. Wiles after which the remains were laid to rest in the Gem Cemtery. Card of Thanks. We wish to thank all the friends who helped care for our dear wife and mother during her sickness and death and also for the beautiful floral offerings. Mr. John S. Smith, Mrs. J.E. The Colby Free Press Thomas County Thursday April 13, 1916 Samuel Henry MYERS was born December 17, 1865 in Callaway County, Mo., and departed this life April 7, 1916 at age of 50 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was maried to Miss Edith HERMAN, December 20, 1898. To this union three children were born, two girls and one boy. He leaves to mourn his loss an aged mother, two sisters, two brothers, and three children.

    3. The Item Linn County Friday September 6, 1895 Died.-- On Friday evening, August 30, 1895, at 9:30 p.m. after a long illness the sprit of Mrs. Sarah A. CARTER winged its flight to that celestial shore. Sarah A. CROW was born Nov. 15, 1834 in Randolph county, North Carolina and was married to John L. Carter in 1860; came to Kansas in 1872. She was united with the church at the age of fifteen years, and was a devoted Christian worker up to the time of her death. Brother Carter and family have the heart-felt sympathies of the community at large in this hour of bereavement. The remains were interred int he Littell cemetery and the last sad rites were witnessed by a large concourse of friends. The funeral was preached by Rev. I.B. Pulliam.

Mr. Samuel MURPHY, an industrious and respected citizen of the township died suddenly of pneumonia on Tuesday last and was buried Wednesday in the cemetery at Perry. He leaves a young wife and two small children, who have the sympathies of the community.
