    3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday June 16, 1899 Died. Mrs. J.M. HALL died at her home in Dunavant on Thursday, June 15th, aged 74 years. Deceased was an old resident of the county and will be missed by many. The funeral took place today at Fairview cemetery.

    3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday June 9, 1899 A Disasterious Fire. About 3 a.m. Tuesday morning the quietness of our peacefully slumbering city was disturbed by that dread alarm--the fire bell. The fire department and a large number of our citizens turned out and hastened to the fire, which was just across the street from the Times office, in Mel CRITCHFIELD's stable. The fire, had, however, gained such headway that it could not be checked, and the stable was burned to the ground. Three buggies, two horses and several sets of harness were burned as well as the grain and hay. The cause of the fire is unknown, though it is thought to have been accidental. Los abotu $1,500, insurance $800. M.L. Critchfield showed his appreciation of the work done by the fire department by presenting the boy with a box of cigars.

    3. The Washington Republican-Register Washington County Friday September 8, 1905 David Wesley SHERRILL was born April 20th, 1875, in Atchison county, Mo., died Sept. 2nd, 1905. He leaves a father, mother, three brothers and three sisters besides many friends to mourn the loss. The funeral was conducted from Blocker church Sunday, Sept. 3rd, at 3:00 p.m. A great concourse of people followed the remains to its last resting place. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. The death was caused by the caving of a sand bank. (Note: Date of birth could be in 1873; date is blurred somewhat on this copy.)

    3. The Washington Republican-Register Washington County Friday September 8, 1905 Mrs. Elizabeth J. BARR was born Feb. 28, 1846, died Sept. 3, 1905, aged 59 years, 6 months, and 5 days. Mrs. Barr was married to Samuel Barr in 1870, who died some 3 years ago. She was the mother of seven children of which six are living, one dying in infancy. Mrs. Barr was a devout Christian, one who lived it every day. She was member of no church but was of the Adventist faith. There was no sickness or sorrow which she could relieve but what she spent her whole strength in relieving. Mrs. Barr was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the family residence twelve miles northeast of Washington, Monday, Sept. 4th, at 11 a.m. conducted by Dr. Leeper.

    3. The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday August 18, 1877 Hon. William WORDEN, of Mound City township; this county, died at Topeka on Tuesday of this week on his way home from Colorado, where he had been in hopes that a change of climate would better his health. His decease was occasioned by consumption. Mr. Worden was a respected and wealthy farmer. A few weeks ago he resigned as County Commissioner because of ill health. In that capacity he was then serving his second term.

Harmon, in Scott township, Linn county, Kansas, Mrs. Comfort D. HARMON, in her seventy-fourth year. The funeral took place at the house of O.D. Harmon, on Thursday afternoon, the remains of the excellent lady being buried at the new cemetery in the Elm Grove neighborhood.

    3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday June 9, 1899 Died of Heart Failure. While at work cutting grass in the yard, at his son-in-law's, Mr. Jones, about three miles north of Perry, Mr. BRYANT, aged 74 years, dropped dead. One of his grandchildren found the body and gave the alarm. Coroner McCREIGHT was immediatly notified and held the inquest yesterday. The jury pronounced death as a result of heart failure.

    3. The Oskaloosa Times Jefferson County Friday June 2, 1899 Ozawkie Item. John WYCLASS a German, who had been working for Ed SAYLER was fournd dead in his corn crib Friday. Heart disease being ascribed as the probable cause. The Modern Woodmen Lodge, of which he was a member, took charge of the remains and buried them Saturday. He carried $1,000 insurance in favor of a brother in Germany. He had no relatives in this country.

Age four years, one month and 25 days. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the First Christian church, Harper, at 4:30 o'clock. The Rev. W.E. Kelly, officiating. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

The guests were: Mesdames, Frank WILLIAMS, Raymond DRESSER,Scott GILL, Marvin PARSONS, H.E. LEONARD of Enid, Okla., and Misses Ethel MOTT of Kansas City and Olive BROWN.
