The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 23, 1909 Horace Jesse TRIPP, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Tripp of Valley Falls, died of cholera infantum at 8:25 p.m. September 14, 1909, aged seven months, fourteen days. Owing to the illness of Mrs. Tripp the funeral services were held at the cemetery, conducted by I.A. Wilson of the Christian church.

    3. The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday November 1, 1928 Mrs. Ira Force and Baby Died Tuesday Night. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ira FORCE of this city were saddened Wednesday morning when they learned of the untimely death of Mrs. Ira Force and her newly born baby, Elizabeth Joan, which occurred at 11:45 Tuesday night. The deceased was 36 years, two months and ten days old. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church on Friday, Nov. 2nd at 2 p.m., the Rev. Coms officiating. Interment in Harper cemetery.

    3. The Harper Advocate Harper County Thursday November 1, 1928 Another Auto Wreck Sunday Afternoon. Allen PALMER and Walter POINTER were the victims of an auto smashup which occurred in front of the Palmer home last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Palmer and Mr. Pointer were coming out of the driveway onto the highway Sunday afternoon when they saw a car coming from the south. Thinking to let the approaching car pass they stopped. The approaching car, driven by a man from Oklahoma saw the car, but on account of the mist and rain said he thought the car was moving and attempted to pass back of it, and hit is broadside. Mr. Palmer was serverely cut about the face and neck and Mr. Pointer received several injuries.

    3. The Harper Advocate Harper County Thursday November 1, 1928 Plank--Book. News has been received of the marriage of Mr. Cecil PLANK of Abilene, Kans. to Miss Gladys BOOK of Hope, Kans. The wedding ceremony occured at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Paul ERB of Hesson, Kans., on October 18, 1928 at 10:30 a.m. The bride was very becomingly dressed in white satin and crepe and carried a bouquet of white chrysantheumums. The chosen attendants of the bride and groom were: Miss Grace Plank, a sister of the groom and Mr. Chester Book, a brother of the bride. Mrs. Plank is the daughter of A.L. Book, and is a talented young lady held in high esteem by her many friends. Mr. Plank was formerly of this city, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. P.G. Plank, but for the past several years has been engaged in work in Dickinson county, Kans., where he has made many friends. After the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Plank left for Harper, Kansas to make a visit with the groom's parents, aldo relatives and friends, prior to leaving for California where they will spend the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Plank have many friends and acquaintances who wish them the best life has to offer in the happy years to follow.

    3. The Harper Advocate Harper County Thursday October 25, 1928 Set Jail On Fire. After being confined in the city jail for being drunk and disturbing the peace, Wednesday evening, Percy BRECKENRIDGE set fire to the voting booths that are, or were stored in the city jail and when discovered soon after was in an unconscious condition due to the smoke from the smoltering canvas. City Marshal Sam CALDWELL was notified by some boys who saw the smoke in the room. Mr. Caldwell with assistance removed Breckenridge from the jail and got the fire, which was still in smoltering stage, out before any severe damage was done.

    3. The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday February 5, 1881 Little Gertrude Olive, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.T. STURTEVANT, died Tuesday night at their home in this city at the age of about 4 years, after a severe illness of several days' duration. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the family residence, Rev. I.N. Morehead, pastor of the Methodist church, conducting the ceremony. The remains were deposited in the cemetery northwest of town. "Gertie," was a bright and winsome child whose departure from this life is one of those sad losses which seem so hard to bear, and yet must be endured. The family, in their bereavement, will have the universal sympathy of all who know them and learn of their misfortune, while the absent daughter has only gone to a brighter and better world beyond.
