They were good patrons of the stores, where valentines were sold, and also of the postoffice, where one cent stamps were in demand.

The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday February 19, 1881 Paola Republican.--Day's saw mill, situated on the Marais des Cygnes, at the Bundy ford, in Stanton township (Miami county) was washed away by the floods of last Monday. It floated down the river about two miles and was totally destroyed.

    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday April 7, 1904 Mary R. Dove. Mrs. Mary R. DOVE, whose former name was KEENER and who formerly resided in this city, died in Kansas City, Mo., April 1, 1904. The body arrived here Monday night and the funeral was held in the M.E. church Tuesday, April 5, at 2:30, conducted by the pastor. She was converted at the age of fourteen and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. She soon afterwards united with the Methodist church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. She leaves two children, a son, H. L. Keener of Armourdale, and a daughter, Mrs. Sarah JACKSON of Kansas City, Mo. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. J. WEIDEL. The W.R.C. of which she was a member, attended the funeral in body.

    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday April 7, 1904 Mary Leah Barnes. Little Mary Leah, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert BARNES died at their home southwest of Morrowville, Monday April 4. She was three months and one week old. She was buried April 5, in the Merkey cemetery at Washington.

    3. The Harper Advocate Harper County Thursday November 8, 1928 Barber-Boyts. The marriage of Miss Marie BARBER and Mr. Earl F. BOYTS was solemnized at the Grace M.E. Parsonage at Wichita, Wednesday, Nov. 7. The Rev. W.E. Callahan performing the ceremony. The young couple was accompanied by Miss Doris Titus as bridesmaid and Ross Troyer, best man. They returned to Harper Wednesday evening where dinner was served the members of the immediate family at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Barber. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Barber of this city. She is a charming and talented young lady, a graduate of the Harper high school with the class of '27, an will make an excellent helpmate of her chosen partner. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Boyts of Crystal Springs. He is of the sterling young man type whose success in the world is assured by his industry and willingness to work. The young couple will make their home on a farm southwest of Harper. Their friends extend congratulations and best wishes.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 30, 1909 Quietly Wedded. At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.P. Gardner of this city, Miss Alice GARDNER and Mr. L.H. DeFORREST were quietly married Rev. R.G. Hamm of Holton officiating, at 3:30 p.m., Sept. 29th. In a shower of rice with good wishes of many friends they left on the evening train for their home in Lawrence. May joy long be their lot.

How Jim active in business at Summerfelt's kept his marriage a secret doesn't now matter. He is married and we are glad of it.

    3. The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 30, 1909 A quiet wedding occured at the Methodist parsonage last Sunday afternoon when Samuel C. OGIER and Miss Nora R. RICKETTS were united in the bonds of holy matrimony. The groom is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Ogier and is well and favorably know in the community. The bride has for several years made hr home at Mr. and Mrs. George McKEEVERS. She is a young lady of many graces, and admired by her many friends. Only a few relatives and near friends witnessed the ceremony. The young folks will make their home on the farm south of town.

    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday March 24, 1904 Effie Amy QUINN was born Dec. 16, 1874 and died March 22, 1904, aged 29 years. The deceased was born at Ireland, W.Va., and came to Kansas in 1883, was married to J.B. Quinn, Jan. 124, 1894. She joined the M.E. church at the age of seventeen years and died in the Christian faith. The funeral services were held at the residence by the Lutheran minister, March 23, and the remains were interred in St. James cemetery. A husband, two sisters, and a brother are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and sister, and they have a large circle of friends who sympathize with them in their bereavement.

    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday March 24, 1904 Florence I. HUMRICH was born in Pawnee City, Neb., October 14, 1880, and died in this city, March 10, 1904. She was married to A.E. FLETCHER September 20, 1898, from which union two children were born, both of which survive her. One is five and toher one and one-half year old. She died in the Christian faith and her only regret was that she had to leave her husband and children. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the house by Rev. Mendenhall and the remains were interred in the city cemetery. Many friends sympathize with the bereaved relatives.

The Washington Register Washington County Thursday March 17, 1904 The many friends of Frank LOCK, Jr., was shocked to hear of his death which occurred at his home in Lowe township, March 9th, at 6 p.m., 1904, although in poor health for nearly four years with that dreaded disease consumption, not until a few weeks ago his friends became anxious about his condition. The best medical skill was in attendance, but all to no avail. Frank was born in Breslan, Germany, Dec. 23d, 1872, removed with his parents to Lowe township, Kans., when eleven years old, was married to Miss Minnie HOUSCHEL in the autumn in 1896. Three children bless the union. He leaves a wife, three children, father, mother, one brother, Paul Loch, and one sister, Mrs. Mary CARL, all of Lowe township. While all who knew Frank cannot help feeling sad that he should be taken so soon, they feel sure he was fully prepared to reach his heavenly home, where all who emulate his life, will meet him some day. Frank Lock was a devout Catholic and had the blessing to received the last rites of the church before death. The funeral services were held at St. Peter and Paul's church, north of Morrowville, and was largely attended by sympathizing neighbors and grieving friends. Frank's death will hang like a pall over the whole congregation. But heaven is people with just such person and so we humbly submit to God's holy will. Mrs. J. H.Doherty.

    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday March 17, 1904 Susan A. BECKER was born near Albany, N.Y., May 6th, 1848, and moved with her parents to Wisconsin in her childhood. She was converted early in life and joined the M.E. church of which she was a faithful member until death. She was married July 17, 1866 to W.J. KAYS and moved to Sullivan county, Mo., where five children were born to them. They moved to Morrowville in September 1889, where they lived until about a year ago when they came to this place. She died March 13, 1904, being fifty-five years, ten months and seven days old. Her husband and four children survive her. Her surviving family have the sympathy of the entire community.
