The end of this life came to her June 2, and the funeral services were held Friday, June 3, at the Brethren church in this city. The funeral was well attended and a large number of mourning relatives and friends followed the remains to the city cemetery where she quietly sleeps until the last trumpet shall sound. 1. [KS-OLD-NEWSPAPERS] Death: Maude E. DAY
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday June 2, 1904 On Thursday evening, May 29th, death called from the family circle of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas DAY their loving daughter. Maude E. DAY, was born Jnaury 18th, 1884, in Riley, Co., near Lenardville, Kans., and died May 26th, 1904, and was at the time of her death, 20 years, 4 months and 8 days old, she leaves heart broken parents, brothers, sisters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. None knew but to love her Maude is dead but the influence of her Christian life remains a model to assist both young and old in battling with the trials and sorros of the world. By the ruthless hand of death the chain of love has been broken and a chair is vacant that never can be filled, all that loving hearts and willing hands could do was done yet all in vain, she bore her suffering patiently and on the evening of May 26th, the spirit took its flight to realms eternal. May the family so live that the circle will be unbroken in heaven is the wish of the writer. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Bower and the remains laid to rest in the Hollenberg cemetery.

    1. [KS-OLD-NEWSPAPERS] A.H. FOOTE; Clerk of the Court
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The Washington Register Washington County Thursday May 12, 1904 Clerk of the Court. A.H. FOOTE, clerk of the court, is also a candidate for renomination. Mr. Foote was an early pioneer in this county and is so well and favorably known as a veteran of the war for the union, a good citizen, a steadfast republican, and competent reliable official, that words of praise from us are unnecessary. Mr. Foote was elected two years ago to the office, which he now holds, b a good majority and he has been so prompt and reliable in the performance of his duties that no one thinks of opposing him for renomination. While the people honored with the position, he honored the position as it was known in advance that he would. While it is not a very renumerative office the responsibilities are of such a nature as to require it to be in the hands of a competent and reliable man and we assert, without reservation that no more suitable person can be found than Mr. Foote the present incumbent. He should be renominated by acclamation and unanimously re-elected.
