    3. The Topeka Daily State Journal Tuesday June 26, 1918 Topekan Drops Dead. Alan Wakeling,111 Greenwood Avenue, Dies Suddenly in K.C. Word of the sudden death of Alan WAKELING, 111 Greenwood avenue, Kansas manager of the International Indemnity Co., an automobile insurance concern, in Kansas City, has been received here. Details of Wakeling's death, however, are lacking. Clarence B. JORDAN, a business associate, was notified only that Wakeling had "dropped dead." Wakeling came to Topeka abotu a year ago from California. Until about a week ago he maintained state headquarters for his company in Toepka and then went to Kansas City to arrange for transfer of the state offices to that place. Friends today said that Wakeling had been in poor health for some time. He is survivedby a wife and four children.

    3. The Topeka Daily State Journal Monday June 24, 1918 Boy Killed By Truck. Topeka Lad Ran in Front of Machine Driven by Frank Mackie. Otis HART, the 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hart, 810 West Seventeenth street, died Saturday night following injuries received at 7:30 o'clock the same evening when he ran in front of a motor truck driven by Frank Mackie, Maple Hill. The accident occurred at Seventeenth and Fillmore streets. The front wheel passed over the boy's head and his skull was fractured. Medical aid failed to save his life. Mrs. Hart, the mother of the boy, place no blame on the driver of the truck, saying the machine was going slowly and Otis ran in front of it.

    3. The Topeka Daily State Journal Thursday June 20, 1918 James Booth Funeral. Civil War Veteran Who Died Wednesday Lived Here Almost 50 Years. The funeral of James BOOTH, pioneer Topeka resident who died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.H. ROEBUCK, 941 Monroe, will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Lowman Memorial church. Had he lived a few more months Mr. Booth would have been a resident of Topeka 50 years. He was born in Philadelphia in 1830 and came to this city in 1869, privious to which time he served in the Civil war as a member of Company H, 1190 regiment, Illinois volunteer infantry. He was a member of Lincoln Post, G.A.R., and was well known in church circles. Mrs. Booth died in January 1917, shortly after the celebrations of their sixty-third wedding anniversary. Mr. Booth was 88 years old. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. F.H. Roebuck and two sons, S.A. Booth of Pueblo, Colo., and J.H. Booth of Topeka.

    3. The Topeka Daily State Journal Wednesday June 19, 1918 Topeka Soldier Dead. Corporal W.H. Glass Drowned at Rockwell Field, California. Word has been received in Topeka of the death of Corporal William Hubert GLASS, former Topeka boy, at the Rockwell aviation field, San Diego, Cal. The telegram announcing the death was received by Mrs. Glenn R. Glass, sister-in-law, and said that Corporal Glass was drowned. Corporal Glass was a graduate of Topeka high school. He was known to his schoolmates as an all-around athlete and one year was placed as an all-Missouri valley high school half back. He enlisted in the medical corps of the regular army shortly after war was declared and his company was attached to the Rockwell school. Corporal Glass is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Glass, and two brothers, Sergt. Glenn R. Glass of Fort Riley and R.E. Glass of Cincinnati, O.
