    3. The Brewster Gazette Thomas County Saturday January 4, 1889 Died. Little Brewster MEDARIS, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Medaris, Friday morning, of dropsy, aged one month and twentysix days. The funeral services will be held at the house Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Little Brewster was the first born and first to die, in the town of Brewster. The bereaved parents have our sincere sympathy.

    3. The Brewster Gazette Thomas County Saturday November 10, 1888 Born.--Mr. and Mrs. O.E. MEDARIS, are the happy parents of a 9 lb. boy, who made his appearance last Thursday night. Mother and child are doing well, and O.E. will recover. Brewster Gazette; November 17, 1888. The new baby spoken of in last weeks paper which came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Medaris, was the first baby born in our town, and has been named Brewster, for which compliment, the Town Company, (so we understand) will deed the boy a town lot. That is as it should be, and we hope the little stranger wil be live to reap a fortune from his town property.

The Holton Weekly Signal Jackson County Wednesday August 13, 1890 Mike McNEIVE was arrested last week and taken before the U.S. commissioner in Topeka, charged with selling beer to the Pottawatomie Indians. The money derived from the sales was turned over to the church and Mr. McNEIVE received no benefit of it. He was bound over to the next term of U.S. district court and gave bond.

    3. The Holton Weekly Signal Jackson County Wednesday August 6, 1890 Died, at Valley Falls, Kansas, Sadie J. HAMBLE, who was born near Columbus, Ohio, April 18, 1863, and was united in marriage P.J. Hamble, December 28th, 1882. Two children and a husband are left to mourn her untimely death--a boy four years old, a little girl 18 months old. The funeral services were held at the residence at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Thomas, of Valley Falls. Mr. Hamble has many friends in Holton to sympathize with him.

    3. The Holton Weekly Signal Jackson County Wednesday August 6, 1890 Killed on the Reserve. Dr. J.T. Scott informs us that a herder from Oklahoma, Frank QUASH, was riding after a steer on the Pottawatomie reserve last Saturday, when his horse fell, throwing him off, rolling over him, and crushing his skull. He was found unconscious and soon died. The unfortunate victim of this accident was a bright and honorable young man and his sudden death is greatly regretted.

WALKER left yesterday for Washington, accompanied by the Hiawatha member of the Pottawatomie and Kickapoo Indian commission. A special agent of the department recently visited both agencies and held a conference with the Indians. The commission, through Congressman Morrill, will present to President Harrison a long petition asking him to order the Indians to accept their allotments and the sale of the remaining lands in each reservation. the people of this county wish the commission success in their important work.
