The news of the death of Miss Nellie COFFIN, of this city, at Rochester, N.Y., at 11:30, Wednesday, August 10th, filled many homes with sorrow. She was born in Holton, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Coffin, being the first settlers of the town. She was their idol and the tenderest sympathies of their large circle of friends goes out to them in the great affliction of their life. Miss Nellie was a beautiful, intelligent, amiable young lady. "None knew her but to love her." Her place in this community can never be filled.

The Holton Weeky Signal Jackson County Wednesday September 17, 1890 Married, at the Congregational church, Wednesday evening, September 10, by Rev. Harlow, of Muscotah, W.J. KORNER and Cora A. DIXON. The church was crowded, 300 invitations being sent out. The bride was beautifully attired in white, with a bridal veil and orange blossoms; her dress was brilliantine, trimmed in white crepe. Miss Nina Bolman and Frank Dixon acted as bridesmaid and groomsman. Miss Nina was attired in white satin and looked lovely. After the ceremony the happy pair took the train for a trip to Colorado, many kind wishes following them that their wedded life may be one of perfect bliss. Mr. Corner is an exemplary young man, and is well known, he being a former depot agent at this place, but now stationed in Lincoln, Neb., where they will make their future home. The Kismet Klipper Seward County Thursday May 30, 1929 Killed In An Auto Wreck. Death Takes Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Hess, Former Residents of Kismet. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. HESS will be grieved to learn of their death which occurred in Arizona as the result of an automobile accident. Mrs. Hess died last Thursday and Mr. Hess on Friday. The funeral was held in Phoenix, Arizona, Tuesday of this week. The Hess family lived in Kismet several years, Mr. Hess coming here in 1915, and organizing the Kismet State Bank. Later he organized the Kismet Milling and Elevator company. He was the first editor of the Kismet Klipper. The family left here a few years ago, first moving to Colorado and later to Arizona.
