    3. The Daily Reporter Thursday August 29, 1895 Whenever you quarrel with a barber you get the worst of the scrape. The man who lives for gain alone dies with carbuncles on his conscience. "There is no place like home," to a lame dog, or a man when he's hungry and broke. The reason some people never come to their senses is because they have none to come to. People are not interested in what you used to be, but what you are now is what focuses public attention. The lady with the candy hair wishes it was black, while the black haired woman longs for the sorghum glow. A boy with an unloaded gun is just about as detrimental to public safety as a mule with one hind leg in a sling. All murderers declare, on the scafold that they are going straight to heaven, although they will drop in the other direction. Newspapers are like railroads, in the respect that it costs as much to carry dead-heads as it does the fellow who pays full fare.

    1. [KS-OLD-NEWSPAPERS] Marriage: LOGAN--DEAN
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The Colby Free Press Thomas County Thursday November 27, 1919 Logan-Dean. A wedding of much interest to the young people of Colby occurred Monday evening, November 24, at 8:00 o'clock when Miss Margaret LOGAN and Mr. Frank DEAN were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. The young couple went unattended to the parsonage, where the beautiful ring ceremony was used to unite these two young lives. Reverend Westerman read the marriage service. They left Tuesday morning for Selden, where they spent the day at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Robert BELL. Mrs. Dean, sister of Mrs. C.V. PARROT with whom she has made her home since the death of her mother, has spent her entire life in Colby and vicinity. She is a graduate of our high school, class of '14, after which she taught in the rural schools. Two years ago she accepted a clerkship in the postoffice and later was promoted to the position of assistant postmaster. In October, owing to the ill health of the postmaster, she took the oath of office for acting postmistress, which position she will continue to hold after her marraige. Mr. Dean is an entertaining young farmer of the Gem neighborhood. When his country needed him he answered the first call. After several months in training he embarked for overseas duty, March 1918, and in May was sent to the trenches. In July, with our first fighting force, he went over the top, was wounded and spent two months in the hospital. After recovering he was again in the fron line trenches and again being wounded was once more sent to the hospital. He had nearly recovered and was about to go to the front once more when the armistice was signed. This worthy young couple have taken rooms at the Koontz residence until such times as Mrs. Dean will be free from her duties as postmistress when they will be at home on their farm near Gem. Their numerous friends join in wishing them peace prosperity and happiness thru life's journey.
