Do you know where Philip came from? My g grandfather lived in Wittmund but came from Liep clear over on the other side and now in Poland. His father was Martin Kruger. My g grandfather was Gottfried Eduard Kruger...all I know about is he had a sister and have no idea what happened to her. Gail
Hi, I hate to be a pain, but I am not receiving email from any of my lists and I need to know if the spam filter that they set up is dumping my emails. I don't need to be hit hard with email but could one or two of you post to the mail list and tell me if there has been any activity on the mail list in the last two days. Post your reply to the list so that the other 100 see your post and then don't reply...;-) Sorry about this!! Gail Meyer Kilgore Casa Grande, AZ
Hi, Yesterday and today have been a nightmare for me. I got hit with what my server is saying 133 megs of email and it thru me to the wind. So, if you sent an email my direction and it was returned, they have me back on line, but ALL the email that I received from 5 a.m. yesterday until late this afternoon is out in cyberspace. Likewise all the email addy's that were stored on my computer are out in cyberspace as all the messages that needed to be replied too. I must ask you that if you are going on vacation, or are going to be away from your computer for any length of time to please UNSUBSCRIBE from the mail list as the bounces are killing me.. if you need to see what mail lists you are subscribed to you can find it at this URL http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Soooo, I guess if you emailed me personally yesterday, try it again....!!! Good Luck! Gail

Boy as many times as you have patiently read my griping about posting virus information to a list....here goes....I figured that if I just got warned by one of the State Coordinator's for the USGenWeb Project then maybe I had better pass the word... So here goes..... Folks, I think that it would be wise to pass information about this virus on to any lists you own. The worm virus W32.Badtrans.13312@mm was just discovered April 11th of this year. If you have not updated your anti-virus definitions since then, you need to do so. What this bad boy does is reply to all unread emails in your email message folders, and passes on the infecting virus in attachments called any of the following: Pics.ZIP.scr images.pif README.TXT.pif New_Napster_Site.DOC.scr news_doc.scr hamster.ZIP.scr YOU_are_FAT!.TXT.pif searchURL.scr SETUP.pif Card.pif Me_nude.AVI.pif Sorry_about_yesterday.DOC.pif s3msong.MP3.pif docs.scr Humor.TXT.pif fun.pif If you have tried to open any of these attachments, you are infected and must "disinfect" your system. If you are not comfortable handling this yourself, contact your computer support person right away. Since the worm only responds to unread mail, after waiting 5 minutes, until you are "cured," quickly open or mark all your currently unread mail as having been read. If you have no unread mail, the worm cannot send out any messages. (Note: This is not a fix. It is only a work around to protect all the folks who contact you by email.) If you receive an email with this attachment, DO NOT OPEN IT. However, please advise the sender that they are infected. Instructions about what to do can be found at: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.13312@mm.html Remember: The key is UNREAD messages. It can appear that you are receiving the message from the list, if the worm is replying to an unread list message. Since no attachements can be posted to the list, thankfully everyone on the list will not receive the worm carrying emails. However, list members are vulnerable, if another list member, who is infected, leaves leaves unread list messages in their message folders. Consequently, I believe it is important to warn you about this worm virus. As always, I request that we not discuss the situation on the list. If you have any questions, please contact me directly. Be sure to notify anyone from whom you have received the attachments named above. That is the only way they can know they are infected. And, then added by another.. Also, if you receive any complaints from posters to your GenConnect boards that they have received the virus in response to their post, please explain to them that the virus isn't being sent by RootsWeb or GenConnect--it is being sent by someone on the board notices list whose computer is infected with the virus. Sorry about this but if you get mega email's be prepared... I have just found it best not to open any attachments.... Thanks for your time... Gail List Hostess

Since the list has been so slow lets have a roll call and see where everyone is! My grandmother was a Krüger and she was born in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 1880 the daughter of Gottfried Eduard Krüger and Etta Elizabeth Bretting. My great grandfather married near Wilhelmshaven but was born in what was then, Liep, Eberling District, Prussia. Clear across the country in what is now Poland. He was a master carpenter and so I wonder if his father also built ships in Liep. His name was Martin Krüger. Gottfried was born in 1848. Where are your Krüger's from? Tschüß, Gail Meyer Kilgore Casa Grande, Arizona I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.
Thank you for the work you are doing for the KRUGER list. I have not received any messages at all from this list in ages, however. I have not unsubscribed, not have I made any changes in my email address since the beginning of cyberspace. Any suggestions! Thanks, Sheila Marsden Bickerton researching: KRUGER (KREIGER, KRUEGER, KRIEGER), LYNCH, MONTGOMERY, MARSDEN, KLINGENSMITH, McCLAY, FINFROCK, KNEBEL, STEVENSON, LUNDHOLM, HELGREN, McKINNEY.
Hi, I have been thinking all day on how I would like to say this so you all don't think that I am not the biggest grouch that walked the face of this earth but I have a problem!! I have multiple mail lists, between 30 & 35 to be exact. Some mail lists have as many as 350 members while others only have a handful. You all got to these mail lists by subscribing to the list from your own computer. My complaint it, it is not my problem to get you UNSUBSCRIBED, it is yours. You get off the list the same way you got on and you were sent a message when you subscribed to the list on how to "unsubscribe" from the list. Just as fast as you send me a message to "unsubscribe" you, I delete it. I do not have the time to go into files all day long to "unsubscribe" members who are too lazy to do it themselves. At the bottom of most of my mail list are directions on how to "unsubscribe" from the list. If you are getting a new server, then it is YOUR responsibility to unsub yourself from all your mail lists before you take on your new server. It is not the list administrator's responsibility to do this. When you go on vacation it is YOUR responsibility to remove yourself from the mail lists that you are subbed to, not my responsibility, nor the lists to hear that you are going on vacation and want to be unsubbed. Please come and go as you please but do so quietly and don't bother the rest of us. Gail
Hi, As was announced last week, Rootsweb went down for a major server upgrade. It looks like in the early stages that they have lost a lot of information. We have lost our Prepends...example: COLAKE.... and looks like we have lost subscribers. If this is the case, this is going to be a major nightmare for me with all the lists that I manage. Be patient, don't complain to the list, complain to me privately before I run away.;-) One good thing is some of my lists are small but some of them are well over 300 members so be patient until we can see what Rootsweb has as far as a final word on what has happened. I will keep you posted. Gail List Hostess gkilgore@primenet.com
Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. Gail

No, it is not a match as they were in Germany where they were born and my g grandfather never made it to the states. Gail
Gail, I am researching this family for a friend of my mother's who is just starting to get into genealogy. Could you please send me more information on your grandfather's family, including whatever you know on his sister. If the family was in South Dakota in the 1850's, I'm sure we have a match. I'm hoping go visit the LDS Family History Center here in Los Angeles tomorrow to look at Census Records for that time period. Is there anything more you can tell me about Wilhelmina? Mother's name, father's name, siblings, etc. Thanks so much! Cindy Courtier
Wow, that was almost scary to see that name up there as my g grandfather's sister is named Wilhelmine[a] and she was born in 1853 in what is now Kahlberg, Kreis Danziger. The names are names that are in our family too. Gail
