    3. Hi Deborah You should have the information on both sides of your family now, the Kruger and Botha families from others on this newsgroup. Most of this information will be found in the series of books written by Heese and Lombard and found in large genealogical libraries in South Africa, called "Geslagsregister van die South Afrikaan familie" (have I got the name of the books correct?) The book was in a second hand book store and apparently a former owner had put the obit in there & forgotten about it. The clipping is just of the obit & the name and date of the paper are not visible. It appears to be from an American newspaper as part of an article visible on the back mentions a United States Gunboat named Nashville, a baseball team, and a bridge spanning the Erie Canal. The article is in English. It says in part, "Oom Paul Kruger, who was well described by his nickname, "The Lion of South Africa," passed away in the village of Clarens, Switzerland, on the morning of Thursday, July 14th....". The last visible sentence says, "For ten years preceding 1877 he was a mem-". I checked the rest of the book and did not find the 'other part' of the obituary. This is not my family. I'll be happy to send it to the first person who claims it and provides a snail mail address for me to send it to. ==== KRUGER Mailing List ==== ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

    1. [KRUGER] Surnames of possible Y-DNA testees
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Hello, All, I have been requested to give the lines of the 3 men who have volunteered for the test. All I have at the present are surnames, as I don't have the name of their earliest known ancestor, and I will not give out the name of the possible testee unless I have written permission to do so. We have two men as possible representatives with CREAGER surname. We have one man as possible representative with CREGER surname. We still need 3 CREAGER/KRIEGER or variant surnamed male to make this a go. I have sent invitations to our Yahoo Creager list and these variant lists on RootsWeb: CREAGER, KRIEGER, KRUGER, CREGAR, CRIGGER, KROEGER, KROGER, KRUEGER These are the only lists that I could find that might be interested in this project. It is even good to have at other men from the same line, but different family branches represented. Audrey

    1. [KRUGER] CREAGER-KRIEGER, etc. Y-DNA PROJECT
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Hello, We have three CREAGER men who would like to join the CREAGER-KRIEGER, etc. Y-DNA PROJECT. However, we need 3 other men to jump start this project. This project includes the surnames listed below. If you are having difficulty connecting to your ancestral line, this is one way to try to connect to others who have the same Y-DNA, and then working with them to research family lines, to share family history, and to hopefully see if you can find a common ancestor. This allows you to eliminate other lines that apparently have no connection to yours. It would be nice to have representation from other family surnames. If you are looking for a family connection, this project may be your answer. At this site you can see that this kind of a project is becoming very popular among genealogists as another way to research a surname and its related families. http://www.duerinck.com/surname.html Here are the surnames that could be included under our CREAGER-KRIEGER PROJECT: CREAGER / KRIEGER, etc. SURNAME including CRAGER, CREAGOR, CREEGER, CREGAR, CREGER, CREGGAR, CREGGER, CREGOR, CREIGER, CREIGHER, CRIGER, CRIGGER, CRUGAR, KREAGER, KREEGER, KREIGER, KREIGER, KRIEGAR, KRÜGER, KRËGER, KRIJGER, KRUEGER, KRÖGER, KROEGER, and other variant spelling See various links and more informational articles at our site: http://tinyurl.com/l16n will take you to this site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CREAGER-KRIEGERetc%20DN A/CREAGER-KRIEGERetc%20DNA%20HOME.html

    1. [KRUGER] Proposed Y-DNA Project for CREAGER/KRIEGER & variant spellings
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Dear CREAGER/KRIEGER and the many variant surnamed individuals who may be descendants going by these surname variations: CRAGER, CREAGOR, CREEGER, CREGAR,CREGER, CREGGAR, CREGGER, CREGOR,CREIGER, CREIGHER, CRIGER, CRIGGER, CRUGAR, KREAGER, KREEGER, KREIGER, KREIGER, KRIEGAR, KRÜGER, KRËGER, KRIJGER, KRUEGER, KRÖGER, KROEGER, I don't know if any of you are interested but I would be willing to initiate and establish a Y-DNA Project for those descendants bearing one of the above surnames or variant surname. In order to "Jump Start" this project, I must have at least 6 (SIX) individuals who indicate an interest in this project. I must have this number before I can apply to the FamilyTree DNA company for special pricing. Once established FamilyTree DNA will give the CREAGER/KRIEGER, etc. (and variant surnames) project a discounted price of $169.00 for a Y-DNA 25 marker test or $99.00 for a Y-DNA 12 marker test. If you choose the 12 marker test, you can always add the additional 13 markers at a later date for an additional $90.00. The 25 marker test is much more useful for this study. For additional information, I have established a website with numerous links to various informational pages. If there is no interest, then we will not proceed further. The only drawback is that the person being tested must be a MALE, bearing one of the CREAGER/KRIEGER or variant surnames...as the Y-DNA gene is passed from father to son through the generations. If you are female researcher, perhaps a brother, husband, uncle, grandfather, son, etc. bearing one of the variant CREAGER/KRIEGER surnames could be tested in your stead. Either of these URLs will take you to the Project's Homepage: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CREAGER-KRIEGERetc%20DN A/CREAGER-KRIEGERetc%20DNA%20HOME.html or http://tinyurl.com/l16n Let me know if you are interested.
