With four children, eighteen grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren to do her honor, Mrs. Sophie KRUGER will celebrate her ninety-third birthday anniversary today at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Milton TOMLINSON, 3435 East Sixtieth Street. She was born Sophie KRAMER in Hamel, Hanover, Germany, February 16, 1822. For five years she was in the personal service of the Grand Duchess of Mechlenburg-Schwerin. She was married September 27, 1848, to Henry L. KRUGER, a nephew of Oom Paul KRUGER of South African fame. In 1870 the couple removed to St. Louis, where they had been preceded by two children. Mr. KRUGER was a paving contractor and died in St. Louis, November 13, 1895, since which time Mrs. KRUGER has made her home with her daughter. Mrs. KRUGER bears her years lightly. Hello, Everyone, FYI: I am pleased to report yet another result for our CREAGER/KRIEGER, etc. Y-DNA Project...including CRAGER, CREAGOR, CREEGER, CREGAR, CREGER, CREGGAR, CREGGER, CREGOR, CREIGER, CREIGHER, CRIGER, CRIGGER, CRUGAR, KREAGER, KREEGER, KREGEAR, KREIGER, KREIGER, KRIEGAR, KRÜGER, KRËGER, KRIJGER, KRUEGER, KRÖGER, KROEGER, KRYGER, and other variant spelling This time we have a match which validates that 2 individuals are descended from the common ancestor, Hans Ernst Krieger, as suspected. Many lines of Hans Ernst Krieger have been validated via research and documentation. Descendants of Hans Ernst Krieger are known to carry the surnames of KRIEGER, KRUEGER, CREAGER according to the representative researchers of the participants, thus far. About 8 generations separate the individuals from Hans Ernst. His son (Johan Casper2 Krieger/Creager (1705-1763); m 1728 Anna "Christina" Hoffarth/Hoffert/Hufford (1706-aft 1769); from Germany to Frederick Co., MD) was the immigrant ancestor from whom the lines diverge. Thankyou so much for theoffer, I have subsequently found that my ancestor came to South Africa Circa 1650 from Germany! And all my life I thought we were of Hollandse descent... Shows you how the local history can confuse your real ancestory.... However, I do know that Van Niekerk is apparently Hollandse, and I say Apparently, because who knows what I find when I venture down that path of success, if ever.
