    1. [KRUGER] KRUGER FULOREINSKY
    2. About every 6 to12 mos I make a posting inquiring if anyone is familiar with or has come across this name. My Great-great grandmother was Katarzina FULOREINSKY I know that's not a Polish name but it is the way she wrote it repeatedly even as a child in her Catechism book.. She gave her Birth as Nov 1867 in Germany, and later claimed Poland saying that she was "born in Poland under the German flag" I understand what that means. She also claimed Posen/Poznan as her home. She said her parents were Peter FULOREINSKY and Mary KRAUSS (I have no dates of birth or death for them). She claimed to have come to America alone at age 18. I have searched G to A and found someone who may be her but I'm not sure. After that she disappears for about ten years and the next record that can be found is the birth record for her oldest son born in 1896 and a second born 1897 both in Boston MA. A Baptismal record was located for her second but not her first. Neither can a Marriage or Death record be found for their father (the KRUGERS in Boston who did die in that period can be ruled out as they don't fit) who is on record for the first birth as James Rudolph KRUGER and simply as Rudy KRUGER for the second. The next record I can find for her is a marriage to a Karl TORNROOS in 1899 on this she lists herself as a widow. Another birth for their only child and then a Death certificate for her in 1948 she lived in and around Boston from at least 1896 til her death. Years of looking by myself and my cousin has turned up nothing else. She was very well educated and fluent in at least 5 languages that I can verify through interviews with older family members, in several photo's I have of her she is very well dressed and has a proud demeanor. **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Author: birchyj Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kruger/298.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The original spelling would have been "Krüger" (the "u" has the umlaut - two dots above it). The standard way to write that without special characters is "ue". Posen was a Province of Prussia and hence of the German Empire after unification in 1871. Before the Partitions (late 1700s), it was Poland. Between Partioning and Napolean, it was German-occupied "South Prussia". After Napolean, it was a Duchy in theory. Then the above-mentioned Province. Between the World Wars it was Poland. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My trouble is I can't find this family in the 1900 Census. I have noticed when researching this family the speller changed the spelling to Kruger to Krueger so I am looking both ways. This family is in Effingham Co., IL 1910-1930. So if anyone is related to this family please answer. Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. KRUGER-L@rootsweb.comMargeaux Re: Kruger Your best bet would be to obtain Death Notices to as far back asyou can. If you can make your way back to about the 1850s, youwill find the remainder of the information on your Krugers in"Suid-Afrikan Geslagsregister" by J.A. Heese and R.J.H. Lombard,1988. My KRUGER connection is my mother-in-law, Catharina GertruidaKRUGER, 1911-1998, but there is no Jan Adriaan KRUGER. The JanAdriaan comes from the VENTER family, as I notice a couple of JanAdriaan VENTERs in my husband's family tree, where a VENTERfemale married a KRUGER male.
