Matthew Michael Kraemer was a brother to Nicholas Joseph Kraemer (1879-1943),& Leo Kraemer born around 1889, sister to Katherine Kraemer Holland 1877-1928 and Agnes Kraemer Lamerand or Lomorande 1884-1929. Matthew Kraemer's parents Nicholas J. Kraemer 1853-1913 - married Katherine Gipp ( George Gipp -do one for the gipper relation...he would have been Katherin Gipp's nephew). I am related through Matthew's brothers Nicholas Joseph born 1879 - 1943 who married Louise Margaret Limback 1881-1958 They lived in copper country and had 8 children: phillip nickname Dutch, Leo (speedy), Louise (girlie), Joe (sauce), Fred (fritz), Francis (happy), Corrine (babe) & Robert. My grandpa is Leo Kraemer mentioned above. Leo married kathryn Kraemer and had 2 children Patrick and Janet. They mostly lived in Greenbay, Wisconsin. My dad Patrick Kraemer remembers Matthew Kraemer coming to live with them for several summers in Greenbay, Wisconsin. He got a job at a canning company named Larson's. Matthew enjoyed going out and as a kid my dad remembered Matthew getting all dressed up to go out Friday night and wouldn't return until Monday. He remembers visiting Matthew in the hospital or VA center with his dad Leo several times before he died in Milwaukee. My Uncle Robert Kraemer (parents Nicholas & Louise Kraemer) remembers Matthew living with them for a brief time in Copper country near Ahmeek Mine. Matthew did work in the mines for awhile - the Ahmeek Mine. Robert also remembers viisting him at some goverment camp or some type of afflication with the government after the war.. Robert remembers meeting his daughter Jessie and there was an uncle or two that checked in he believes. Robert doesn't remember another child but the web says a Ruth Kraemer was born and Ethel Sanders or Saunders Kraemer 1884-1906 died the same year a Ruth Kraemer died 1906-1906 Whatever additional information you may have on Matthew or any of the above relatives please pass on!!! The data and pictures were compiled into a book that is 342 pages. The book was published today, Aug. 4, 2014. ISBN: 1499779720 In case anyone is interested in reading the book, the title is: "Kraemer in Amerika: History and genealogy of the Kraemers from Tiefenbach, Bavaria, Germany, who immigrated to Stearns County, Minnesota, and to Los Angeles, California" Authored by Debra Blau and Kenneth Kraemer The book is extensively indexed by last name, place, and occupation, and is sourced in detail. There are 11 chapters and a large appendix containing additional information, a Tiefenbach history section, church history, family stories, German translations, original documents; photographs (weddings, family snapshots, homes, cemeteries); immigration records, census records; naturalization records; birth, marriage and death records; draft cards; maps; and land certificates. Ken and I stumbled upon an unsolved mystery far away in the homeland of our ancestors. The small village of Tiefenbach - set among the beautiful rolling hills of the Oberpfalz region in Bavaria, Germany - is where the mystery took place. The mystery involved a unique stained-glass church window with an intriguing inscription, "Kraemer in Amerika." Setting out to discover the meaning behind the inscription, we found themselves faced with many unanswered questions, such as: . Who did "Kraemer in Amerika" represent? . Where in America did this Kraemer live? . Who donated money for the Kraemer window? . Could there be a fascinating story behind the donation? The book reveals the answers to these questions. Our research led to Kraemer families in Minnesota - rugged pioneers who settled the town of Lake Henry in Stearns County; and to Kraemer families in Los Angeles who profited from the 1890s land boom; their connection to the Wisconsin Kraemers from Sauk County; and how they all shared the same roots in Tiefenbach. Because Kraemer daughters married into other families, the book also touches on the family stories of the following southern California families: Davancens, Faulkner, Fox, Friel, Grasham, Jacque, Keeley, Lach, Lypps, Marshall, Meeks, Menne, Preuher, Scott, Vallon, Wagner, Zmora and Zrnka. Of the Minnesota Kraemers, the book mentions the following families: Aanerud, Bruhn, Dueber, Gelting, Ingram, Jaeger, Kowal, Longley, Michelitsch, Patsch, Schuett, Sitta, and Staples. Copies of the book have been donated to several libraries and archives and will be available free to the public at the following locations: Stearns County Historical Society, St. Cloud, Minnesota Wisconsin Historical Society library, Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin Sauk County Historical Society, Baraboo, Wisconsin Kraemer Public Library and Community Center, Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin Old Franklin Township Historical Society, Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin California Historical Society, San Francisco, California Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah Archiv der Gemeinde Tiefenbach (Tiefenbach Community Archive), Hauptstrasse 23, 93464 Tiefenbach, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany Bistumsarchiv der Diözese Regensburg, Bischöfliches Zentralarchiv (Catholic church book archive), St. Petersweg 11-13, 93047 Regensburg Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
