This has been a difficult time for me but I am trying to get back to my genealogy little by little. Glitz: About the only thing I know about Jacob MILLER (MUELLER) is from a speech made by Dr. Collier Cobb of the university of NC, who spoke at a meeting of the Society of Descendants of the Palentines, held Oct 9, 1929 at Kinston, NC After giving a brief history of the Palatinate he was speaking of John Martin FRANCKE who was suppose to go to Boston to Cotton MATHER, but while in London waiting to set sail for New England he fell in love with a poor Palantine girl Sevil MILLER (MULLER) and went to New Bern, NC instead. "Sevil was the daughter of Jacob and Katherine MULLER, who came with their children to New Bern from the Palatinate in 1710. " Dr. Cobb goes on to tell about FRANKE, the surveyor and adds, " He was almost; immediately elected a member of the General Assembly in 1712 and returned to New Bern as Justice of the Peace. His sons took wives from the best that the colony afforded; and his wive's brothers, the MULLER, Jacob, John and Phillip, have also had an honorable part in building up this and other states" Another, brief history that I have on the KORNEGAY Family, author unknown, says that Jacob MULLER was a Swiss school master and a Justice of the peace at New Bern. Said he has grown sons and his near neighbors helped him to put up a fight and drove the Indians off his place. (I assume this is when the KORNEGAYS were killed by the Indians.) It also tells about Jacob MULLER having George KORNEGAY and George KOONCE "the sole survivor of the Swiss KOONCE family" bound out to him. If Jacob MULLER and George KOONCE were SWISS, makes me wonder if George KORNEGAY could have also been Swiss. Dr. Cobb said, in the group were French Protestants from Guienne and from Gascony, a few French Swiss, German Swiss and Germans from beyond the Palantinate. Pat Hoffman
