    3. Zilpha Smith- 1888 Copy of will found in Benjamin Smith's DAR file in Washington DC by Martha M. Marble. Record of Wills page 439 Nov. 28 1888 [I believe this is correct date on document] A. T. Grady, Clerk of Court Will of Zilpha Smith, 1888 North Carolina: Wayne County Be it remembered that I Zilpha Smith of said county and state and being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence and knowing that all mortals are but dust and must soon pass away, committing my soul to God who gave it and after my dissolution my body to my surviving friends to be buried in such a manner as they may wish and direct: do make and ordain this my last will and testament: I give and devise to my sons Lafayette, Aldon and James Smith the sum of one dollar each. I give and devise to my son John Smith the sum of one hundred dollars, enough of said sum to be applied in payment of a note he holds against me for about eighty dollars. I give and bequeath all of my household and kitchen furniture to my daughters Tirzah, Charlottie, Zilphia Kornegay, Dora, Cora, Ora and my son Thomas Smith all to have an equal share. Each to have enough in value to equal that I have already given Zilpha, which consist of one feather bed, four quilts, one counterpane, one sheet, one set of pillows and cases, one bolster and case, one bedstead and one trunk. I give and bequeath the residue of my property of every kind and description also the interest I may have in my father John M. Uzzell's estate or elsewhere to my daughter Tirzah, Charlottie, Zilpha Kornegay, Dora, Cora, Ora and my son Thomas Smith. To be equally divided among themselves as they may choose and direct. I hearby appoint and request that Tirzah Smith act as my Executor to this my last will and testament, hearby revolking and declaring all other paper writings purporting to be a will made by me at any time, null and void. Signed, sealed and published this 7th day of March 1888 in presence of these witnesses. Witness: Zilpha Smith (seal) J.F. Kornegay A.D. Smith
