Hello All - I've come upon a disk I thought I had lost with some transcriptions of wills and deeds I had worked long and hard on. For all of you descended from Isacc and his son Harget, this land deed may be of interest. I copied the spelling and capitalization just as I saw it on the deed in the Courthouse. Hope you like it! Jerry Found in Book 33, Page 285, Duplin County Courthouse - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Isaac Kornegay to} Deed 90 Acres Harget Kornegay } North Carolina, Duplin County To all to whom these presents shall come, Greetings. Know ye, that I Isaac Kornegay, Sr. for the consideration of the sum of One Hundred and Thirtyfive Dollars to me in hand paid by Harget Kornegay, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself to be fully satisfied, contented, & paid; hath bargained & sold unto him the said Harget Kornegay two Certain Tracts or parcels of Land lying & being in the County & State aforesaid from the fork of the North Esat & Goshen - Viz. 1st piece Beginning on the fork of McCullock's branch at an Ark in the fork of said branch where the two rivers join from up the smallest branch as the middle thereof nearby a West course 62 poles, to a Blackjack at the head thereof thence N. 25 W. 120 poles to a pine, thence N. 80 E. 80 poles to a pine on William Kornegay's line thence his line S. 25 E. 40 poles to a pine his Corner, then his other line S. 65 W. 20 poles to a pine by the head of the branch then to the middle of said branch to the beginning containing Fifty acres, more or less. - Also another piece lying in the County aforesaid & Joining the aforesaid piece, butted and bounded as follows: Beginning at a pine Wm. Albertson's Corner on Jones' Branch thence along a row of marked trees across the main road to Owen O'Daniel's old Corner near the head of Houseman's branch thence along Owen O'Daniel's line to a pine his corner on Wm. Kornegay's line thence along said Kornegay's line across the main road to a pine Wm. Albertson's Corner, thence Wm. Albertson's line to the beginning, containing Forty acres more or less. - To have & to hold the above named the Tracts of Land unto him the said Harget Kornegay, his heirs & assigns forever free & clear from me my heirs & assigns forever from any person or persons whatever, or from any former gifts of deed, mortgage or bond, Judgement or conveyance of any kind whatsoever. And I the said Isaac Kornegay do on my part warrant & forever & find the above named land free & clear from me my heirs & assigns forever from any person or persons whatsoever claiming by or under me, unto him the said Harget Kornegay his heirs & assigns forever.
