Ruth, I'll toss in one too, I found a marriage listing for one of my line here in MS and it was spelled Carnegie. Another tidbit for thought; I was doing some research on my ex-husbands line the Lawrence's and Ezell's and his uncles name is "Koeingsberger" and is pronounced can-ix-berger. Some where I was reading about german naming patterns that "berger" on the end of a name was like stating an occupation or something like that, so if you take the "berger" off the name, it is Koeings. This is one way of spelling Kornegay. All I know is his family is from Wisconscin. As soon as I get back on friendly terms with my ex-in-laws, I'll find out more. Sometimes, I wonder if we will ever find out the original spelling. Sheila
