Welcome! to the list Benny. You have a very interesting family. I have quite a bit of information on your family due to the generosity of another descendant of the David Smith KORNEGAY line. He is Eduardo KORNEGAY from Mexico are you familiar with him? I descend from Jacob KORNEGAY and his 2nd wife Mary (WARD) KORNEGAY through Henry and Nancy (CARRAWAY) KORNEGAY Wyatt Y. and Mary Anna----------- KORNEGAY who left North Carolina and migrated to Oktibbeha and Clay Cos MS by 1850 through dau Martha Rebecca KORNEGAY & Thomas Richard NOBLIN I have been doing KORNEGAY research off and on since the 1960's. I, like Kathlynn, would like to find documentation that Mary FISHER is or is not the first wife of George KORNEGAY. I would also love to find out the maiden name of Mary Anna the wife of Wyatt Y. KORNEGAY or a marriage record for them. Two of my many brick walls. We have a nice congenial and helpful group here and always welcome another KORNEGAY Cousin. Pat Hoffman
Pat and Kathlynn - Hello and thanks for the response. My Kornegay lineage is George>David>Robert>David Smith>Annie Elizabeth Kornegay Cook>Annie Belle Cook Huff>Nathan David Huff>Sammie Clinton Huff>me. I am almost embarssed to join this list because I know so little about the Kornegays. I cannot verify whether Mary Fisher was the first wife of George, Sr. In the 1970s I became interested in genealogy because of an uncle, John Huff. He has passed on to me family folklore about David Smith Kornegay. I have additional bits of family folkore about his incarceration in and escape from Mexico that I have not found in any published accounts and therefore are unable to validate them. His daughter Annie Elizabeth from whom I am descended was born after David Smith died so I am lucky to be here. My uncle did not know any family history prior to David Smith. I found a reference to Robert and Latitia Kornegay in an old family bible and the trail led to Jones County North Carolina. I did the research there primarily from a book by Zae hargett Gwynn. In the 1970s I visited Jones County and made zerox copies of many of the records that established the trail from George to David Smith. These records are available for sharing if anyone needs them. If any of you can give me a link to Eduardo Kornegay I would greatly appreciate it. I have three photos that came from the trunk of Annie Elizabeth Kornegay Cook after she died. My uncle believes that they are photos of Kornegays. One looks like a young David Smith without the mustache. I would love to send the photos to Eduardo to see if he can identify them. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 15, 2001 11:59 PM Subject: Re: [KORNEGAY-L] Hello Everyone > Welcome! to the list Benny.
