    1. [KORNEGAY-L] Lettice Orme Kornegay
    2. Benny and Linda Huff
    3. Pat - This is Benny Huff. Since this information is directly about the Kornegays I thought I would put it on the list server. Let me know if you get this and if I do not hear from you in a day or two I will send it directly to you. You asked if I had a maiden name for Lettice Kornegay. I told you from my summary we believed it was Orme but only had circumstantial evidence. The evidence is fairly compelling but not conclusive. The page numbers are from Zae Hargett Gwynn's book. >From the will of Robert Orme (page 221) he had daughters Margaret Wood, Betsy Wickliffe, Jane, Deborah, Lettice and son William. The items left to Lettice Orme coincide with items Lettice Kornegay left to her daughter in her will, the plantation on Mill Creek bought from John Granade). John Kornegay, the brother of David Kornegay and Lettice Kornegay's husband, was a witness to Robert Orme's will. Lettice Kornegay named her son Robert. Lettice Kornegay mentioned her sister Jane in her will. From Robert Orme's will we know that Lettice Orme had a sister Jane. Lettice Kornegay mentioned a cousin William Dyson or Tyson in her will. William O. Tyson witnessed land purchase of Robert Kornegay on p. 221 and William Orme Tyce was listed in a land transactin op p. 136 - the land described as his was same as land described as William Tyson's on pp. 161. William Orme Tyce - Willima O. Tyson were probably the same person. >From land descriptions in deed transactions, John and Daniel Kornegay owned land adjacent to the Orme family. Deborah Orme, sister of Lettice Orme, witnessed land purchase by David Kornegay after he had married Lettice (1783 - .p. 119) I know this is not proof but it is sufficient for me to list Lettice's maiden name as Orme (?). Has anyone else come to this same conclusion?
