I once was working on a theory that her father could have been Robert DICKSON, since she also named a child Robert and that was not a usual KORNEGAY name used in our family. A while back I copied from Duplin County Families Article written by A.T. Outlaw and which appeared in the Duplin Times, Sept 1937. It was intitled: CARR, DICKSON, BRYAN, McGOWEN, MOLTEN, PEARSALL, SHEFFIELD, SLOAN, etc. This is just a thumbnail sketch, contains much more information. Col. John DICKSON b. Ireland to US ab 1736; lived Chester Co PA, Maryland and to Duplin Co NC about 1744; married twice, wives unknown; children: Major Michael, John , Col William, Major Robert, Joseph, James, Edward, Mary Evidently Major Robert DICKSON m. (1) Catherine PEARSALL and (2) Mrs. Barbara (BONEY) SHEFFIELD, widow of Capt. Isham SHEFFIELD. After the death of Robert DICKSON, Barbara m. (3) John WILKERSON. Major DICKSON's children by first marriage to Catherine PEARSALL 1. Col. John DICKSON m. Sarah BLOCKER moved to Cumberland Co NC 2. Ann DICKSON 4th wife of Capt. Kedar BRYAN (s/o Nancy SMITH & NEEDHAM BRYAN) 3. Pearsall DICKSON moved to TN 4. Edward DICKSON moved to TN 5. Catherine DICKSON 2nd wife of Charles HOOKS; moved to AL 6. Mary DICKSON 7. Elizabeth DICKSON Children by 2nd marriage to Barbara (BONEY) SHEFFIELD 8. Susannah DICKSON m. Col. David HOOKS 9. Robert DICKSON died without issue 10. William DICKSON m. (1) Margaret SLOAN (2) Margaret CHAPMAN This sounded good,he had a Mary but then I got his will and found that he wrote it in 1790, my Mary was born 1820 or 21 so that would not work out. The other Mary DICKSONS that I found all had husbands accounted for. So unless she were the d/o of one of the above male children I haven't been able to connect her to the DICKSONS. Surely wish she were, it would be much easier. Thanks again for your help and concern. Pat Hoffman
