The Wayne Co Heritage book has Joseph married to Margaret ROBERTS but I think this is a later Joseph. Charles KORNEGAY's book has the old Joseph as married to Nancy BECK. It is confusing as I have 11 different Joseph's in my data base. However, my records say that Nancy BECK is d/o John and Elizabeth (WHITFIELD) BECK b. 1746, she d/o William and Elizabeth (GOODMAN) m. 1713 of Chowan Co Gates Co NC) Elizabeth said to have m. (1) Jonathan TAYLOR, 1 child and (2) John BECK whom she had 9 children. Matthew WHITFIELD said to be father of William WHITFIELD. However, this does not work well considering that Nancy BECK's mother would have been born nearer to Joseph KORNEGAY's age, so my information which I got years ago is questionable.
