Patty, There is a collection of papers, actually papers similar to DAR membership papers, along with letters written by various descendents. These papers can be found in the City of Kinston library, and some are at Lenoir Community College. They may be looked up under the name of "The Hyatt Collection." I have accessed them several times, and have found them to be very helpful. Hope this helps to answer your question.
