Ruth, George Kornegay III's wife's parents I do not know. I haven't got that far yet on her side. The papers I have show that our Daniel was a minor when his father died. Daniel was the last of the children. His brother-in-law Needham Stephens was made his guardian. I can send you copies of the papers I have. Or send you the name of the book the info came out of, when I go back to the Lib. It was given to me, but since then I have found it myself. This is what is out of the book: 4th generation George Kornegay 1760-1822 Pulaski George Kornegay of Pulaski County had two or three children who lived in "Wiregrass Georgia." He was born about 1760 in Duplin Co, N.C., a son of George Kornegay of that county and a grandson of George Kornegay, I, who came to American about 1710 with a company of German Palatines and settled in North Carolina, founding the town of Newbern, NC. The emigrant Kornegay later settled in Duplin County near Alum Springs, where he died in 1773. (given the dates this cannot be John George). George, the subject, married his first cousin, Elizabeth Kornegay, August 2, 1783, in Duplin County. They had the following children (named below in order named in their father's will): Margaret b.178.., m Needham Stephens Rebecca b.178.., m William Holliman of NC Zilphia b.178.., m Hall Goldsmith, Sept 26, 1822 Letitia b.179.., m ---- Grimes Callie (?) b.17..., m ---- Hines Roxie Clarisa b.17..., m Henry Reeves May 27,1819 Liza b.17..., m Unknown Civil b.17..., m Asher Reeves Dec. 21, 1820 Susannah b.17..., m Kindred Hall Jan 9, 1823 Bazzeel* b.1800 , m Emily Shanks, dau of Jas. D. Daniel b.1808 , m Sarah Ann Everett Jan 7, 1830 in Thomas Co Ga (*) "Bazzeel" is a variation of the spelling of the name "Basil" which is the way the name appears in North Carolina records. Mr. Kornegay moved to Georgia about 1805, and became one of the first settlers of Pulaski County. He died in 1822. His will dated July 17, 1821, was probated May 6, 1822. The will bequeathed the home-place to the son, Bazzeel, and Daniel was given $2000.00 owing the testator "by my brother Bazzeel Kornegay. of N.C., to be my said son's when he became of age, he not being fifteen years old yet." Needham Stephens and Bazzeel Kornegay, the son, were named executors. This is from CPNSUS References: 1790, 1800, Duplin Co., N.C., 1820, Pulaski.
