Hi everyone, does the inactivity on the list mean everyone, EXCEPT ME, has their records so correct that there is no longer any need for further research/discernment/discussion!? LOL! I have a BIG favor to ask of anyone who has a copy of ALL original EARLY documents for George Kornegay....will you please send to me? I find that I definitely NEED to replace the ones I currently have that are from published index and it appears the publisher took it upon their self to enter the surname as Kornegay, the much later established Anglicized spelling, instead of the spelling of the name that is actually on the document. I especially need what appears to be the earliest or first document, i.e, At a court held at the house of Jacob Miller August 1713 "appraisers appointed for the estates of Palatine orphans"..."Jacob Miller [Muller] took into his care two orphans George Kornegay and George [Cones?]" etc, etc. [Source: Charles Kornegay book and he states his notes were taken from 1712-1713 court minutes, found in NC state Department of Archives and History, Raleigh, NC]. Also I've seen undocumented claims: Jacob made sure that this orphaned Palatine boy got his fair share of the land promised earlier to the colonists in the Graffenried expedition. The first and earliest I have is: 1736/37 Land Grant to George Kernegees for 200 acres - Craven Co. ...Considering he was born 1703 and acquired his first land at age 21 = adult in 1724? Could this mean there is an earlier document that I don't have? I attempted to acquire them from online and bottom line I learned, although they can be obtained online FREE for NC residents, but non residents have mail request and pay $20. for each doc. So if no one already has them, is there anyone living in NC that would be willing obtain them via computer? Any help will be greatly appreciated. ~Kathlynn~
Kathlynn, My readings regarding what was called the Tuscora Massacre around 1711 had George Koonce as the other survivor who were made Wards of the Governor. Demitri C.
