Kathy, When my husband was stationed at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso (1962), he met a man on his shift who was black and had the surname of Kornegay. He told me about this man and I even saw him at the office. I didn't talk to him about his last name being the same as my maiden name. I knew that slaves sometimes took their masters name. I wish I had been more interested and talked to him about it.
