    2. Sue: There is also an item in the Heritage Book that I have a few pages from on an Edd and Gladys HERRING KORNEGAY, written by Nelda Kornegay Smith, she says," Edd b. 19 Jun 1891 near the banks of the Northeast River at what is now Albertson, NC; his father was Nichodemus KORNEGAY and his mother was Alice (GOODSON) KORNEGAY. His mother died in childbirth with her 13th child, leaving my father and his spinster sister to care for this large family. As a young man, my father went to work for Benjamin HERRING and after returning from service in France after World War I, married Mr. HERRING's daughter , Gladys b. 22 Aug 1902; d/o Abbie Elizabeth Smith HERRING, they had 4 children.
