I am not sure if John Johnson is still on the list or not but here is his line: John Johnson s/o Mildred Kornegay Johnson d/o Thomas Dorridge Kornegay s/o Manda S. and Wiley K. Kornegay. Children of Manda and Wiley Kornegay: Fannie Kornegay 1883 Nannie Kornegay 1883 (twins) Thomas D. Kornegay May 1888 Dorah Kornegay 1893 Gusta Kornegay July 1897 Census for 6/7/1900 lists Manda as Widow Does anyone recognize any of these folks? Sheila
Pat - I am consulting my hand drawn (by my wife, bless her) summary sheet of the Kornegays. I will have to look at the notes to get our records and will do that soon. We have them listed as Robert and Latitia Kornegay. The spelling of Latitia came from an old family bible. Their descendents in no particular order are Jane O. Kornegay Lane, David Smith Kornegay, Margaret Kornegay, Thomas Kornegay, Mary S. Kornegay and Alexander H. Kornegay. Again, I can consult our documentation on Jane O. Kornegay Lane and will forward this to the list server. I did some additional review of Lettice Orme Kornegay. I am certain her father was Robert Orme. The first record that I have of him in Jones County is a lease of some land on August 11, 1758. I have circumstantial evidence that his wife was named Sally. Their children were William Orme, Deborah Orme and Lettice (Letitia) Orme. I have another record that list a daughter Tisha but I believe that is referring to Lettice. William had descendents James, Robert V., William and possibly Bazell. I believe that the wife of James was Mary. These were all determined by looking at deeds in Jones County North Carolina. I do not have a maiden name for Latitia. I will work on that soon. I have been unable to contact Eduardo Kornegay. The number I have for Edward Kornegay in San Benito is no longer in service. I am making a blind call tonight to an Edward Kornegay that I found on Yahoo that lives in Harlingen, near San Benito. Would it be possible for me to get copies of the data that Eduardo forwarded to you? Benny Huff >
HELP!!!! I was entering the data for Lettice (ORME) KORNEGAY and happened to see from the information sent by Eduardo under Robert and Lititia KORNEGAY that 2nd child it has Jane KORNEGAY b. 1810 Jones Co NC married Dr. Levin B. LANE 12 Jan 1826 Trenton, Jones Co., NC I can see how a Jane could fit with this family since Lettice had a sister Jane, So if the Jane who married Levin LANE is Robert s/o David KORNEGAY's daughter, the Jane who someone thought may be closely related to Bryan Ward KORNEGAY would not be right. Benny: can you post us a family group sheet of what you have for the family of Robert and Lititia and do you have a maiden name for Lititia? Anyone else who can shed light on this please do. I have been trying to catch up on filing, hope to start organizing soon and I am sure that I will need everyones help to get the holes filled in and keep these records straight. Katylynn: as far as I know the Elizabeth KORNEGAY wife of George KORNEGAY III and said to be wife of GLISSON has not been resolved unless I missed something. Pat Hoffman

Hi. Just found this site and appreciate it very much. Was also reading Hazle's notes to me and it seems that I had not answered her questions about reunion. But as I recall I answered her request directly. The dates of the reunion's in Duplin Co, NC can be found in the site that Jerry had started. http://www.jbquinn.net/Family_History/index.htm Am so sorry that he has not had the time to continue it - as it seemed to be quite informative. As all of you researchers know - just a bit of info is a great help. Keep the info coming. Pat, Not sure who they belong to, found them while searching the LDS site to see what I could find on Lettice Orme for Benny. If you say that's who they belong to, sounds good to me. My goal is to find a family to put all these lost Kornegay's that are found on the web with a family. It's people like John Johnson who can't connect their family with the main body of the Kornegay's that I search for. I can link my family as can most of us, but some can't. That has to be so frustrating. I can't link two of my other families with related names in the same county in Miss. with my family, so I search for connections I can find. Thanks for the help. Sheila
Shelia: Thanks for posting the cemetary information. I had this note in my data This under the children of Jacob KORNEGAY and 2nd wife Mary WARD Bryan Ward KORNEGAY b. 1791 Duplin Co NC-d. 1832 Marengo Co AL married Margaret WILLIAMS 1819 Marengo Co AL " A levin Bryan LANE ab. 1801 (s/o Levin LANE and Nancy BRYAN b. 2 Dec 1781) m. Jan 1826 to Jane KORNEGAY. They lived in Marengo Co AL and had 3 children. Are they related to Bryan Ward KORNEGAY?" I am not sure where I got this note but back in the 1960's there was a Mrs. Jones from Pell City, AL who was a researcher and I may have gotton it from her. Pat Hoffman
Benny: Thank you so much, this is just the kind of documentation that I am looking for. It sounds like very good evidence to me. Thank you for sharing this with me and I am very happy that you shared it with the list as I am sure that everyone would be interested. I had not seen any of this data. Thank you Pat Hoffman

Hi Benny, I got it. I don't think you have to worry about everyone not getting your message if you address your to email to the Kornegay List everyone on the list should get it. It sounds like you have sufficient "preponderance of evidence" to claim that she was indeed Lettice Orme. I've seen and used far less circumstantial evidence for conclusive discernment, which has to be done often when there is no hard proof. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I have always had her name spelled Lettice, although I have seen it Leticia, etc., I think. And I'm going to keep it that way if it is okay with you? Kathlynn
Pat - This is Benny Huff. Since this information is directly about the Kornegays I thought I would put it on the list server. Let me know if you get this and if I do not hear from you in a day or two I will send it directly to you. You asked if I had a maiden name for Lettice Kornegay. I told you from my summary we believed it was Orme but only had circumstantial evidence. The evidence is fairly compelling but not conclusive. The page numbers are from Zae Hargett Gwynn's book. >From the will of Robert Orme (page 221) he had daughters Margaret Wood, Betsy Wickliffe, Jane, Deborah, Lettice and son William. The items left to Lettice Orme coincide with items Lettice Kornegay left to her daughter in her will, the plantation on Mill Creek bought from John Granade). John Kornegay, the brother of David Kornegay and Lettice Kornegay's husband, was a witness to Robert Orme's will. Lettice Kornegay named her son Robert. Lettice Kornegay mentioned her sister Jane in her will. From Robert Orme's will we know that Lettice Orme had a sister Jane. Lettice Kornegay mentioned a cousin William Dyson or Tyson in her will. William O. Tyson witnessed land purchase of Robert Kornegay on p. 221 and William Orme Tyce was listed in a land transactin op p. 136 - the land described as his was same as land described as William Tyson's on pp. 161. William Orme Tyce - Willima O. Tyson were probably the same person. >From land descriptions in deed transactions, John and Daniel Kornegay owned land adjacent to the Orme family. Deborah Orme, sister of Lettice Orme, witnessed land purchase by David Kornegay after he had married Lettice (1783 - .p. 119) I know this is not proof but it is sufficient for me to list Lettice's maiden name as Orme (?). Has anyone else come to this same conclusion?

Did anyone ever got the mangle records of Elizabeth Kornegay [d/o William Kornegay Sr & Elizabeth Outlaw worked out? There was major discussion on the list about this some time age. Many have her married to Daniel Glisson instead of George Kornegay, lll Kathlynn
