    2. Pat, Thanks for voicing your opinon. I have had some experience with My Family.com and I know where you are coming from. I haven't been into my MyFamily.com page in awhile but I believe you can turn off receiving the birthdays etc. Also now you can access all your pages with one password. The web page at MyFamily.com will not change anything on this list. This list is a rootsweb list and it will always be here. And I don't expect anyone will leave. That is not what Vickie has in mind. 1. Re: [KORNEGAY-L] My Family.com
    2. My question. Does this mean that we have to give up this site? I don't think this is an unreasonable question. Ruth: this question has nothing at all to do with Jerry Quinns site or the wonderful job that he has done. I am on My Family.com for about 5 or 6 families and I do not like it. Why? It is my understanding that this is set up for a designated family, to be able to participate you must have a password. I hate having to remember a password for all of these different families so there fore I don't participate much. You can be notified if a new message has been posted to the list but every time you want to add something or read the messages you will have to go on the net and wait for the address to come up and then sift through the stuff to find what you want. Also if you are not careful you will be bombarded with commercial stuff, contests and letters wanting you to buy stuff or you will get a notice everytime someone on the list or their children, or children's children have a birthday, aniversery etc and so on ,saying, so in so is celebrating their birthday wouldn't you like to buy them a $300 digital camera to commerate the ocassion. Well cousins, nothing would please me more than to commerate all of your specials days but I just can't afford it. This site would also mean that no new cousins can find us unless they receive a special invitation and password. In the 5 or so families that I have joined I have found very little genealogy help and lots of chatter and interest seems to wane after a while. I can see where this may be good for a big immediate family. Maybe, I have this all wrong, some people think it is easy and great, but this has been my experience. NOW, if this is what you want, I will join the new list with the rest of you as I do enjoy my contact with you and I would miss contact with all the KORNEGAY Cousins, we are like a family and I have gotton use to all of the people and personalities. But I feel that you need to know how this operates and I fear us getting too scattered and not being able to work together like we have in the past. The best advantage I can see is having a place to put pictures. I hope you won't consider me a spoil sport but I just had to say how I feel. Pat Hoffman

    1. [KORNEGAY-L] Uploaded Pictures
    2. Benny and Linda Huff
    3. I have uploaded 11 old Kornegay pictures to the Kornegay site created by Vicki Culpepper. I want to thank her for setting up the site. It has made distributing these pictures much easier. I placed the pictures in a folder that I named 'Huff Kornegay Pictures'. These pictures were found in an old trunk that belonged to Annie Elizabeth Kornegay, the daughter of David Smith Kornegay. David Smith migrated to Texas in 1830 and died in 1856 at the age of 46. He was a significant figure in Texas history and there is a brief biography on the jbquinn web site. I apologize for the quality of the photos. Most are from small pictures no larger than 1" in height. The only one that I feel fairly certain about the identity is the one label 'Edward Dawson Kornegay 1'. He was the only son of David Smith Kornegay. I have sent these pictures to other descendents of David Smith Kornegay to help in the identification. If anyone has an opinion please e-mail me. I believe that one of them is David Smith himself and one is his wife Brigette Lamb McGary. These pictures were probably taken around 1850. Other pictures of David Smith exist, one on the jbquinn web site. Other than the picture that I suspect is Brigett Lamb McGary I believe all the other photos are of Kornegays because of family resemblance to other Kornegay pictures. I have tenative identities from other family members and as I get more comfortable that these are correct I will update the information associated with the pictures. Enjoy. Benny

    3. I would certainly hope that we don't give up Jerry's site. He worked too hard and long for us to abandon it. Why do we have to have just one site????????? Someone is not thinking straight - if they think that only one person can do any one thing. Jerry did a wonderful job and I hope no one will short change him on that. I'm hoping that he will be able to come back with us and finish it. We don't know why his delay - but I'm sure that he did much better job than I could have done and I do plan to use his site from time to time as I have since he began. I have problems!!! if you don't you sure are the luckiest person that ever lived.
