    1. [KORNEGAY-L] Myfamily files
    2. Kathlynn, Have you tried the "file" section in the Kornegay site. Its really easy to upload to it. And then when you do upload to it you can add to or change very easily. I didn't even realize you have a actual working program in the file section that you can add to. I tried it last week and it is very simple to work. I think when you go to the File section and see your own file you can download it or see it here. You choose see it here. and there is your family file all ready to work in. I like it because also you can copy from it once you put info into it. I can't copy straight from my family tree file. If you have trouble uploading or finding your file let me know and i will "see" if I can help. I am self taught and I hate reading instructions. But I figured out whole bunches of stuff. sometime it takes a while but sooner or later it works. Plus I have never minded begging for help. On the upload express on the photos it can scan an deliver the photo or copy of whatever (i have done documents, letters, research paper & such as that) . Anyway what i am trying to tell you about upload express when you scan you can bypass your hard drive and send the picture straight to myfamily. It saves you hard drive space. black and white don't take up a hugh amount of space but color pictures do take up alot. I just upload straight to the myfamily if I have the picture. I can send them to anyone I want after i get them to myfamily. its pretty neat. Just thought this might help yall. 1. [KORNEGAY-L] Need help - Red Hill Plantation {Cemetry] location
    2. Hi Ruth, or anyone else that knows, I'm trying to 'polish up' some on this family's records and get a better understanding of locations, etc., and I need help with discernment. Re: Ruth's 2-27-01 msg. - County, NC Heritate Series Reprinted - More About The Kornegay Family 'Our Heritage' by Claude Moore August 3, 1984 "Last week I wrote an article about the obliteration of "Red Hill" an old plantation house belonging originally to the Kornegay family, about four miles east of Mount Olive. There were a few errors in the article and as a historian & writer, I felt I should correct them according to research done by others. The house of which I wrote was the second house at Red Hill & was the home of Basil Kornegay [d: circa 1821], a surveyor & planter, the last family member to live there. The original home "Red Hill" was build during the colonial period on the east side of Holmes' Gardens & Lake & north of NC highway 55 & was probably built by George Kornegay, Sr. [died 1773] for his son George Kornegay, II who lived there. This old house burned in 1905. the Kornegay family cemetery is nearby & those buried there are: George Kornegay II & his wife, Margaret Kornegay, Basil & names others. Re: George Sr. "his place of burial is not certain however, he was probably buried at the 'Kornegay Old Burial Ground' on his land at Kornegay's Bridge on the Northeast Cape Fear River in Duplin County. George Sr. Memorial Stone at Red Hill in Wayne Co 2. George, Jr's Red Hill: located east side of Holmes' Gardens & Lake & north of NC Hwy 55, build by Geo. Sr, for son Geo. Re: George Jr inherited [from father George, Sr]: 150 acres in the fork of Beaverdam on the North East Branch, Duplin Co 50 acres over Spring Branch, Duplin Co {What does 'over' Spring Branch mean?]. 350 acres on the Horse Pen Branch. [2] Is Holmes' Garden & Lake located on one of the inherited land sites? If so which one? 2. Second Red Hill: Where Basil lived - about four miles east of Mount Olive - tore down abt 1984. Question: Does anyone know what part, if any, of the land that Geo. Jr. inherited from father that his 'Red Hill' plantation house was built on? Question: Did the two different people just give different discriptions of the same location, thence, the first and second Red Hill Plantation house was build in the same location? And this is where George II, wife Margaret, son Basil are all buried and George Sr.'s Memorial stone is in the same place. Would this be a correct entry to make in describing where they are buried -- "Family Cemetery on Red Hill Plantation land near Mount Olive, Duplin Co, NC." Or was the first and second Red Hill plantation house built on different land locations? In other words is the Holmes' Gardens & Lake, north of NC Highway 55, a different location than 4 miles east of Mount Olive. If this be the case then which one has George Sr's memorial stone? Of course I find Mt. Olive, Hwy 55 and see that they are on the Duplin & Craven line and can get a grip on that easy enough, and understand Holmes' Garden & Lake area [which I can't find on map] but the discription of where it is is in the same general area, but is it the exact same area?. Thanks for any help. Kathlynn

    2. Your welcome, Bill. It was late and I was tired last night....I just reread my msg. to you and I thought I better inform you, that I don't know for a fact that you connect to two lines. When the descendancy chart came out that way it threw me for a moment and I had to check it out and discovered the first cousins marriage and I ASSUMED that was the case. But I am not too computer smart, so maybe if my assumption is incorrect someone else on the list will inform you. It seems I have all the data on your lines, including the sibblings in each generation, and I wish I knew how to do a gedcom for you that would just download into your data base. Otherwise, I don't know how to get it to you, except bits and pieces. Let me know if you don't get any help from anyone else, and if you want more. Kathlynn

    2. If this is your lineage, then it looks like you are a "Double Kornegay." Immigrant John George and his wife, 2 daughters, and another son [names unknown] were killed by the Tuscarorra Indians. Thence, son George, Sr. is the sole survivor of the family and progenitor of all Kornegay's in America. It looks like you connect to two lines from 1st cousin's marriage. Susannah Simmons [d.o. Mary Kornegay Simmons & Hargett s.o. Isaac Kornegay are 1st cousins. This is not my line, therefore, I don't have documentation for all. But I know there are descendants on the list from both lines that will surely help you. Let me know if you don't understand and I will help if I can. Good luck...happy hunting! 2. Bill, I looked, I have several William's but no William A. Nothing I have matches those dates. If I run across anything I will post it for you. There are others who have a much more extensive data base than I do. So, hopefully, someone will have him listed. Sheila Lawrence

His tombstone gives his birth date as Oct. 22, 1893 and date of death as Oct. 16, 1918. He was married to my grandmother Lena Arthur. She named my father William Albert Kornegay.
