This wasn't the Abram who married Susan GRADY he was s/o of William KORNEGAY II & Charlotte DANIEL (this is the William & Elizabeth (OUTLAW) line) This Abraham was s/o Jacob and 2nd wife Mary ( WARD) KORNEGAY Pat Hoffman

Regarding Ann TURNAGE having sister Martha. I have been told that Patsy is a nickname for Martha and there was a Patsy TURNAGE who married as second wife to Martin KORNEGAY 20 Feb 1806 , Bondsman Luke KORNEGAY; Martin m. (1) Susannah ROGERS 24 Mar 1794 Bm John KORNEGAY that is the only TURNAGES that I have in my data. I have that Martin KORNEGAY died about 1810, have no idea if that is correct but if Patsy out lived him, maybe she could have married someone else. I have that she was born ab 1768, don't know if that is correct either. Pat Hoffman

His land on Goshen, where he had lived for a short time, was sold to Capt. Joseph GRIMES. I noticed that Major Thaxton when writing about the John Washington KORNEGAY Bible records stated that in the Bible was an article from the Mt. Olive Tribune (Mar 18, 1975) which references Polly KORNEGAY & Stephen Gilmore WATKINS, it would be interesting to see what that article had to say as tfheir son Thad Harget WATKINS b. 12 Sep 1832 Duplin Co NC-d. 6 Feb 1908 Big Springs, MS; he is said to have married (1) Teo GRIMES (a direct desc of Daniel BOONE in KY) whe died 9 months after marriage of typhoid and he m. 3. Pat, Patsy is a nickname for Martha. Mittie is a nickname for Mary. Fanny for Frances. I am certain there are many more. It drives you up the wall sometimes trying to decipher the names and especially the initials. Gayle L... I had a Joseph Benjamin Garris and someone else said no he was Joseph Bunn Garris. Also a John William Mozingo and someone said no he was John Walter Mozingo or one will have Edward Mozingo and another will have Edmond Mozingo...so go figure....Gayle L. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 11, 2001 6:55 PM Subject: Re: [KORNEGAY-L] (Abram Kornegay)Turnage & Winders > In a message dated 11/11/2001 9:32:19 PM Eastern Standard Time, > [email protected] writes: > > > > Well, Christine, knowing how these folks did names, I would not be surprised > > to find that the Patsy TURNAGE who married Martin KORNEGAY was named after > > an > > earlier Martha TURNAGE. > > > > Pat > > > > True :-) very true > Thanks > > Christine Grimes Thacker > > > ==== KORNEGAY Mailing List ==== > To view Kornegay Family Pages go to > http://www.jbquinn.net/Family_History/index.htm > >

I once was working on a theory that her father could have been Robert DICKSON, since she also named a child Robert and that was not a usual KORNEGAY name used in our family. A while back I copied from Duplin County Families Article written by A.T. Outlaw and which appeared in the Duplin Times, Sept 1937. It was intitled: CARR, DICKSON, BRYAN, McGOWEN, MOLTEN, PEARSALL, SHEFFIELD, SLOAN, etc. This is just a thumbnail sketch, contains much more information. Col. John DICKSON b. Ireland to US ab 1736; lived Chester Co PA, Maryland and to Duplin Co NC about 1744; married twice, wives unknown; children: Major Michael, John , Col William, Major Robert, Joseph, James, Edward, Mary Evidently Major Robert DICKSON m. (1) Catherine PEARSALL and (2) Mrs. Barbara (BONEY) SHEFFIELD, widow of Capt. Isham SHEFFIELD. After the death of Robert DICKSON, Barbara m. (3) John WILKERSON. Major DICKSON's children by first marriage to Catherine PEARSALL 1. Col. John DICKSON m. Sarah BLOCKER moved to Cumberland Co NC 2. Ann DICKSON 4th wife of Capt. Kedar BRYAN (s/o Nancy SMITH & NEEDHAM BRYAN) 3. Pearsall DICKSON moved to TN 4. Edward DICKSON moved to TN 5. Catherine DICKSON 2nd wife of Charles HOOKS; moved to AL 6. Mary DICKSON 7. Elizabeth DICKSON Children by 2nd marriage to Barbara (BONEY) SHEFFIELD 8. Susannah DICKSON m. Col. David HOOKS 9. Robert DICKSON died without issue 10. William DICKSON m. (1) Margaret SLOAN (2) Margaret CHAPMAN This sounded good,he had a Mary but then I got his will and found that he wrote it in 1790, my Mary was born 1820 or 21 so that would not work out. The other Mary DICKSONS that I found all had husbands accounted for. So unless she were the d/o of one of the above male children I haven't been able to connect her to the DICKSONS. Surely wish she were, it would be much easier. Thanks again for your help and concern. Pat Hoffman

I have never heard of any Documentation to substanuate her being a DICKSON. Also heard that she could have been Indian. It any documentation turns up I would really like to know because this really leaves a hole in my "tree" and the research that I have done on the DICKSONS haven't helped me much. Pat Hoffman

    3. Hi Patty, You are welcome. It is what it is all about sharing. I have been helped countless of times by others generosity so I just pass it along. Keep the faith. I will send you a site bmd for NC you can see if they have a record of your ancestors marriage. Have you done a query on the KORNEGAY at http://www.genforum.genealogy.com type in Kornegay to go to the page and do a post and query someone out there may just happen to have the information. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 10, 2001 9:17 PM Subject: Re: [KORNEGAY-L] Fw: (no subject) > Gayle: Thank you so much for sharing this great Bible with us.
