Sue, I think I can help you out on the search for the wills. I have a photocopy of a list of wills that are in the North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History. Kornegay, Abraham 1810 " , Abram 1825 ,Daniel 1802 , Daniel 1843 , Daniel 1844 , David 1784 , David 1821....... Its too early in the morning 3:30am to try to see such small type. I'll drop you a copy in the mail today. Sheila
Hi Ruth! So that is why you were so quiet today. You were gone. I've thought about you off and on all day. I still haven't sent you my genealogy information. I understand a cousin from Arlington, Texas has contacted you to share her genealogy. I hope all went well. She was wanting me to write a book with her. She must have an awful lot of information. I just didn't feel I have the time for that right now. Sandy
Hi! I finally located the address in my email: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl You can look at old messages from the list and recent ones too. I don't know how the search engine would know who to let search and who to block. Supposedly only Kornegay List members are able to search the Kornegay List. I wasn't trying to be selfish, just trying to protect our privacy. I think some folks are nervous about their addresses showing up on the internet. But if someone wants to post a query somewhere they have to leave their email address. It doesn't matter to me. Sandy
Hi! Just got back home today from Wilmington, N. C. where I had a Dr appointment. And I find that I have been "blasted" for trying to help my fellowman, with non-copyright material. I hope this doesn't happen to you. Ruth At 03:46 PM 5/20/98 -0500, you wrote: >Hi! > >If anyone has asked about names in the Kornegay book and I haven't >responded, I'm not ignoring you. Hi Sandy, Thank you very much for typing all that out for everyone. I'll get the info into my database tonight while I'm working on it. Til later. Sue in CA
Hi Sheila, I will keep you in mind because I certainly cannot afford to copy the book for people unless they are willing to pay for it first. John Oates said it would cost better than $20 to do the copying, plus $3 for postage. That is why I evened it out at $25. My question for today: Does anyone have copies of wills for any of the children of George Kornegay b:1701. I have the one for George and Capt. Jacob Kornegay, but was wondering if there were some for Jacob's siblings. Thanks. Sue in CA
Hi Sandy, Thanks for the list search URL. Will try to take a look at it tomorrow. Sue in CA
Hi Ruth, No one is blasting, just clarifying, so as not to offend the author or writer. I was surprised when I got the turn down when talking with Wanda Oates this a.m. that there would be no help on her part in possibly getting a copy of this book. John M. Oates was very gracious in offering to copy his master of the book for me for $25 as he never made any profit on doing the previous set of books. I myself have been in the oddball place of having contributed over 1/2 of a book's material only to get completely burned in not even getting a copy of the book or having my name put into the book's credits as a contributing compiler. I am very careful in making sure that doesn't happen to someone else now. I know what it can feel like. Please don't feel that anyone is blasting you at all. I am just chalking it up to a miscommunication, is all. Take care now. Sue in CA
Sandy, I have Miller & his son in my database but do not have dates for Miller & his wife, Nancy. Can you give me the family with dates & places, please? I don't have any siblings for John Ward Kornegay b:22 Apr 1822. Thanks. I actually have 3 different John Ward Kornegay's in my database. Just giving names with no time frames or places isn't going to get much attention I would think. It helps to be a bit more specific in giving info along with the names. Sue in CA
Hi! My great grandfather was also John Ward Kornegay; but I think not the same as yours. His father's name was Miller Kornegay or at least that is what I've been told by my cousins in AR. who are also researching this line. Hi! If anyone has asked about names in the Kornegay book and I haven't responded, I'm not ignoring you. I've just got to sit down and read. I'll do that this weekend. Sandy
The book is also in the North Calolina State library
HI THIS IS BARBARA JUSTICE. GEORGE W. IS SUPPOSE TO BE MY JOHN WARDS FATHER. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I JUST DONT KNOW FOR SURE. CLARISSA ROUSE WAS HIS MOTHER BUT IS GEORGE TO OLD TO BE HIS FATHER? HE HAD A BROTHER JAMES WHO FOUGHT WITH HIM IN THE CIVIL WAR.
THANKS
HELLO THIS IS BARBARA GREEN JUSTICE. WE PROBALY ARE RELATED. JOHN WARD KORNEGAY WAS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER. HIS FATHER WAS GEORGE WASHINGTON KORNEGAY.
Sue, Thanks for jumping in and getting this copy thing settled. (I hadn't located Mr. Oates phone number yet.) I have a friend with a scanner and I planned to have the pages scanned and then send the pages email. It wouldn't cost anything that way. But I've never done this before and don't know how it will work out. Barbara in Florida has joined the list. Sue, I never said that it was possible to get a copy of the book from Mr. Oates. He had told me there were not any more copies. I planned to ask permission to copy his book for anyone who wanted it. I have a cousin in Arlington who wanted one of the books and he told her she could get someone to copy it for her. Sounds like Ruth had already talked to him before posting the info she posted. I think maybe there is a misunderstanding. I'll write him a letter of apology.
