    3. Lori, Sorry, I forgot to add that the 1892 date is correct for William H. Kornegay. I just wanted you to be aware should you visit Smalley Cemetery. Sandy

    3. Sue, That is so interesting. Are any of the relatives Kornegays? There is a Kornegay Street in Lufkin. My neice and I went to a therapy clinic in Lufkin, went to sign in and there on the list someone had signed in as Kornegay. We questioned her and she said her husband is a Kornegay and they have been there forever. Some people have absolutely no interest in genealogy. San Augustine Co. is on the other side of the lake from us. We live in Angelina Co. next to the Black Forest Community. We are close to Jasper Co. I know where Harvey Creek is. We checked that out 2 years ago when the lake was at an all time low, looking for a place where we could launch our boat. Do you know of any cemeteries that had to be moved before the lake filled up? There is a little church at the corner of FM2743 and FM3373 (Concord Baptist)and I have been told that 3 cemeteries had been moved to that location. If you are ever in my area please get in touch with me. I would love to meet any of my cousins. Sandy

    3. Hi Lori, There are a couple errors on your great Granny, Edna Frances Stone. She was born on the 8th of March and she died in Beaumont, Jefferson Co., Texas. She had a heart attack at home in Colmesneil (she and Billy were sharing a house with Ricky) and she was taken first to the hospital in Woodville and then on to Beaumont. I have an extra death certificate if you would like it. Maxine gave me Edna's purse and it had a number of papers in it. A note about William Houston Kornegay. His death certificate says he was born in 1893 and his military records has that date. A military headstone was put up so it also has 1893. This has been talked about since he died. Aunt Geneva Kornegay Duffel wanted me to have another stone put up with the correct birth date. 2. Hi Ruth, Give me your oldest Simmons person and I'll see if it is in my database. Our Simmons lines started in Norfolk Co., VA to Wake Co., NC, to Putnam & Wilkes Co., GA, to Marion & Pike Co., MS, down into Sabine & Washington Parishes, LA, & over to San Augustine Co., TX. The best person to contact for Simmons help is Peggy Hill in TX. She is the main depository for any of the Simmons lines, as she has over 35,000 Simmons in her files and has a lot of Simmons researchers all over the country sending her their info, documents and files. Peggy can be reached at the following e-mail address: MZDP07A@prodigy.com Sue in CA

    2. Hi Barbara, My Walters were on the border of North and South Carolina. I can't get back any further than that. From what I have found it seems my line left the Carolina's, and I think went to New Orleans. I just found this out, and will have to do research to see if I find them there. I do know they ended up in Jones Co., Miss at abt 1820. From there they came into Texas. Do you want the line? Let me know, and I will email it to you. sincerely, Lori

    3. Hi! I love knowing about people and seeing their photos on the internet. I plan to put up a homepage soon. After seeing Jerry's and Sheila's homepages and seeing what he has done with the Kornegay Web site I am all excited and motivated. My name is Sandra Nell Kornegay Rhodes. I was born November 17, 1942 in Livingston, Polk Co., Texas, (Sheila, you are about the age of my oldest child) the youngest of six children of William Houston Kornegay and Edna Frances Stone. We have 4 grown children, 2 boys and 2 girls; 5 grandchildren, 2 boys, 3 girls, with another girl due the 8th of Aug. I live on Lake Sam Rayburn at the Angelina Forest. We don't have any pets but feed the squirrels and birds. Occasionaly a deer may walk through and we see red fox and other animals. I love it here but the shopping is inconvenient. The nearest loaf of bread is 11 miles away, decent shopping and doctors 35 miles. We chose this place for retirement because of our lifestyle which is camping and boating. We bought acreage with 2 other couples we have been camping with for over 20 years. To keep myself busy (there are not enough hours in a day) I have the property, my family, genealogy, and my COMPUTER. I get teased about the amount of time I spend on the internet and sometimes I get defensive about it. I volunteer a lot on the internet and otherwise. I plan to post my line this week. Sheila, you had another good idea! Let's hear from some others. This will all be Kornegay history someday. Sandy

    2. Hi Sandy, My cousin, Suzanne & my aunt are always doing genealogy stuff in San Augustine Co., TX and of course, elsewhere. They were the ones responsible for lighting my head up with this genealogy hobby which really took off for me. I do certain lines, Suzanne does certain ones and we constantly update each other. They live in San Augustine near Mitchell Road in Shiloh & Denning area of SAC. Suzanne goes to Lufkin all the time. Interesting. My aunt was born near Harvey Creek. My mother was born in Denning. I have extensive Mitchell, Simmons & Bailey family lines coming from San Augustine Co., TX. Wouldn't that be funny if you connected somewhere in there too. <G> Til later. Sue in CA
