    3. Ruth, George Kornegay III's wife's parents I do not know. I haven't got that far yet on her side. The papers I have show that our Daniel was a minor when his father died. Daniel was the last of the children. His brother-in-law Needham Stephens was made his guardian. I can send you copies of the papers I have. Or send you the name of the book the info came out of, when I go back to the Lib. It was given to me, but since then I have found it myself. This is what is out of the book: 4th generation George Kornegay 1760-1822 Pulaski George Kornegay of Pulaski County had two or three children who lived in "Wiregrass Georgia." He was born about 1760 in Duplin Co, N.C., a son of George Kornegay of that county and a grandson of George Kornegay, I, who came to American about 1710 with a company of German Palatines and settled in North Carolina, founding the town of Newbern, NC. The emigrant Kornegay later settled in Duplin County near Alum Springs, where he died in 1773. (given the dates this cannot be John George). George, the subject, married his first cousin, Elizabeth Kornegay, August 2, 1783, in Duplin County. They had the following children (named below in order named in their father's will): Margaret b.178.., m Needham Stephens Rebecca b.178.., m William Holliman of NC Zilphia b.178.., m Hall Goldsmith, Sept 26, 1822 Letitia b.179.., m ---- Grimes Callie (?) b.17..., m ---- Hines Roxie Clarisa b.17..., m Henry Reeves May 27,1819 Liza b.17..., m Unknown Civil b.17..., m Asher Reeves Dec. 21, 1820 Susannah b.17..., m Kindred Hall Jan 9, 1823 Bazzeel* b.1800 , m Emily Shanks, dau of Jas. D. Daniel b.1808 , m Sarah Ann Everett Jan 7, 1830 in Thomas Co Ga (*) "Bazzeel" is a variation of the spelling of the name "Basil" which is the way the name appears in North Carolina records. Mr. Kornegay moved to Georgia about 1805, and became one of the first settlers of Pulaski County. He died in 1822. His will dated July 17, 1821, was probated May 6, 1822. The will bequeathed the home-place to the son, Bazzeel, and Daniel was given $2000.00 owing the testator "by my brother Bazzeel Kornegay. of N.C., to be my said son's when he became of age, he not being fifteen years old yet." Needham Stephens and Bazzeel Kornegay, the son, were named executors. This is from CPNSUS References: 1790, 1800, Duplin Co., N.C., 1820, Pulaski. Now I pick up the thread again: 5th generation: Daniel b 1808 m Sarah Ann Everett (Dau of Aaron Everett and g-dau of Jesse Slater) on Jan 7, 1830 in Thomas Co. Ga. 3. Just read your msg to Lori. You are so lucky to be living where our family lived so many years ago. Not to mention on the land itself. I can only imagine what you think when you walk around your grounds. The pride, the humbleness, the looking back on yesterday. Just thought I would tell you I think you are lucky. One day I hope to leave Texas and see it for my self. Till then I have to contend myself to learning all I can about the life and ways of our ancestors. 3. There has been some question how Donna and I fall into your Kornegay tree. Even from Donna she is coming up to speed and doing great. She has only been in this for about 4 months. I have been in root diggin for about 20 years. Started young. Anyway hope this puts some light into another branch of the family. Eddie Here is how our branch falls. Of course we all come from the first two Georges. John George, and George. George and Mary Fisher had five known children: George Jr., Captian Jacob, John, William, and David. Our ancestor was George Jr. He married Margaret Downing Lullum. Lullum was a married name. Her maiden name was Downing. They had the following children: George III, Civil, David, Basil, Jacob II. George Kornegay III m his first cousin Elizabeth Kornegay. They had the following children: Margaret, Rebecca, Zilphia, Letitia, Sallie, Roxie (could this be the Rockalena?), Liza, Civil, Susannah, Bazzell, Daniel. Daniel married Sarah Ann Everett. They had the following children: Mary Elizabeth, Thomas, Edward Augusta, Sarah Ann, Basil, Jacob. Edward Augusta married Luncinda Jane Munro. They had the following children: Edward Augusta Jr., Thomas Daniel, James, George, Make (this is the correct spelling), Sis, Bernice. Thomas Daniel married Arie Basham. They had the following children: Coffey Daniel, Herbert, Audely, Sinnie (Cinnie). Coffey Daniel married Addie Ophelia Boatwright. They had the following children: Raymond Coffey (R.C.), Edward Franklin (our dad), Wilburn Winfred (Bill), L.D., William Basham (Willie), Thomas Daniel, Beulah Lee, Oletha, Make (correct spelling), Lena Mae. Edward Franklin married Allie Marie Allen. They had the following children: Charlene, Carolyn, Donna and myself, Eddie Lynn. We have lost our parents and Charlene, So there are only 3 of us left now. I have dates on most of the above. If someone could tell me who Elizabeth's (who married her first cousin George) father was I would be most appreciative. Donna, it seems like we are climbing this particular branch ourselves. Which is better than being alone. At least we can share and keep company with each other along the way. You are doing such a good job. Love ya a lot. Eddie

    3. Sandra, What Daniel Kornegay are you and Matt talking about? We are Kin to the second Daniel. Son of George III and father of Edward Augusta Sr. Can I be of help somehow? If this is our Daniel you are talking about and you have a picture I would love to have a copy. I too am going around to the cemeteries with my sister and taking pictures of the tombstones for our records. So far we just have pictures of the Kornegay's in Tx that we knew about. Mainly our family. We have not seen any Kornegay's buried anywhere else we have been. Anyway let me know if you are discussing our Daniel. 3. Ruth, My brother, Billy, joined the army in the late 40's and was stationed at Fort Bragg. I remember the family talking about him meeting another Kornegay in the service and going to their home. I suppose he didn't know enough of the family history to make a connection. He died in 1990. I just sitting here between Camp Lejuene Marine Base, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, and Fort Bragg Military facility. As I have told other, I live on some of the land that was Kornegay Land Grant. My son owns land the has been handed down from family to family (Kornegay related) since the original land grant. The old Kornegay cemetery is about 1/2 mile from my house. I just visited it and it needs a lot of work done to it. However, some of it is being maintained - the outskirts need cleaning also. A lot of the old old grave sites have vanished due to using wood markers and fire getting out and burning the markers. I did find Hargett Kornegay's stone and Susannah's and Penelope's. 3. Sandra, I've been sitting back lurking because I didn't know I even had a Kornegay line until about 2 months ago and thanks to all the conversation that's been on this mailing list lately, I have more than I can even comprehend right now. Bur your subject line, ARKANSAS BRANCH caught my eye and I'm curious where in Arkansas the Kornegay's were located. My line is Elizabeth Kornegay who married Daniel Glisson and their daughter Betsy Glisson who married John Norman. The Norman's ended up in Lawrence, Izard and Sharp counties in Arkansas. And what I find a little odd, is that one of the Norman children married a Gay whose father was Alfred P. Gay who is a brick wall for me. One Arkansas Census says he was born in NC, now it makes me wonder if he could have shortened his name from Kornegay to just Gay? You know in those days it was not uncommon for cousins to marry. Oh well, just another mystery to solve - right? Would appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks, Glenda in Memphis

Tonight I got out my magnifying glass and it sure looks like 1869. Thanks. Death looks like May 18, 1909. Guess it might be necessary to check with the funeral home on Daniel Kornegay. I have a very good picture of that one. It is too good. The marker doesn't look 50 years old. Could have been put in much later and they got the year wrong. I have an extra picture if you would like to have it. Also have pictures of Narcissa's grave. It has a wrought iron fence around it. 2. Hi Matt, Now I liked that about the "us' & "sa. Quaint! So if you are alive, it is Narcissus and if you are dead, it is Narcissa. Got it. I learned something new. I also have a Narcissia in my line. It has always been a debate whether she was Narcissus or Narcissia. In her marriage record, it was Narcissia. Just a month ago, I found some 5th cousins living in FL who have a whole bunch of letters written before 1900 and everyone called her "'Cissy". Have a good evening. <G> Sue in CA
