My name is Barbara Justice. I wonder if GEORGE WASHINGTON JUSTICE is part of my husbands line. His son Charles R. Justice is the same name my mother-in-law named one of her sons. They came from Va. and Ky.
Ruth: The name that you couldn't read from the bible was: Mary "Polly" KORNEGAY b. 22 Dec 1808 Duplin Co NC-d. 30 May 1881 Clay Co MS married 22 Dec 1829 Duplin Co NC to Stephen Gilmore WATKINS. This family moved to MS near my family. Mary m. (2) John Taussey EGGER (SC people) Hester KORNEGAY b. 3 Sep 1805 m. George Washington SIMMONS, her 1st cousin and left NC in 1833. They may have stopped in Sumter Co Al, then came to Lowndes Co MS. Many of their children settled in Wacisse, FL. Pat Hoffman
Ruth: Thank you for sharing all of these marriages. In the 1960's I had the pleasure of receiving a letter from Malcomb L. GRADY who was born 20 March 1885, since deceased. He never married and in May 1962 was still living in the old Daniel Hargett SIMMONS home. He stated; "my hobby has been family history for many years, I have so many records of different families, been working on SIMMONS, not yet printed." You probably know that Susannah SIMMONS married Hargett KORNEGAY. The house they lived in was still standing in 1960 just west of the villiage of Kornegay and close by WESTBROOK/KORNEGAY cemetery. Do you happen to have any of the information of the KORNEGAYS buried there? Pat Hoffman
