Ruth: Thank you for the WESTBROOK information. I think it is a good idea to share our lines. I know I came in late, so this may be a repeat for some, but to keep mistakes from being perpetuated it is good to compare and dig further. Matt: The only thing that I could find in my records on Catherine GRADY is that she married William Bryan KORNEGAY b. ca 1795, he the son of George Fisher KORNEGAY and Sarah GLISSON d/o Sarah HERRING & Daniel GLISSON, George Fisher KORNEGAY s/o William and Elizabeth (OUTLAW) KORNEGAY. William Bryan and Catherine named their 1st child Catherine. Pat Hoffman
Bob Erwin, Have you been in touch with Darrel Guinn from Joplin, Missouri. He is an authority on Indian affairs especially when the Cherokee's were driven to Ok Hope this helps. Gayle W. Licari It was interesting reading about Bryan WARD and Nancy.
Hello KORNEGAY researchers: This is the address for NC genealogy web site for all counties: http://www.goldenbranches.com/nc-state/counties.html Pat---lots of queries for CARRAWAY in counties surrounding Wayne, Duplin, Green, Lenoir. Need a lookup for the spouse of MICAJAH CASEY. Some have reported Sarah HERRING is this correct, if so, who were her parents? Many thanks, Gayle W. Licari
Hi Folks> In case you haven't found the Social Security Deaths you can find it at: http://www.ancestry.com/ssdi/advanced.htm It will help you find birth and death date of people who held social security card before their death. There sure is a lot of Kornegay's on that list. Maybe - help someone find - some lost cousin. Good hunting Ruth
Pat, you are correct. You are also correct on Nichodemus Kornegay, Jr. - I have death date as 1932 he married Lola Ellen Bennett - This is Jerry Quinn's line. Sue, that makes two of us. Hopefully someone in the family that knows will reply and give it to us straight. Someone wrote that someone had told them that James Westbrook married Hester Kornegay. This may be true - but Hester Eliza Kornegay (b) 28 Jul 1836 (d) 28 Aug 1880 (daughter of Hargett Kornegay and Susanna Simmons Kornegay) married 6 Sep 1860 to Jesse E. Westbrook (b) 10 Mar 1834 (d) 23 Apr 1884 was my husband's grandparents. Ruth At 07:21 PM 6/25/1998 EDT, you wrote: >Ruth, > >I think I am starting to get screwed up with my records. Sue, hope this will help. I have a George Washington Kornegay (b) 15 Nov 1870 (d) 11 Sept 1918 (m) Eveline Branton. Do you have any information on Mary Magdaline Kornegay? Ruth At 09:49 PM 6/24/1998 EDT, you wrote: >Who is George W. Kornegay the son of? I must have his info wrong because >others are pointing that out. Hi, I have Mary Magdelena Kornegay's death certificate. It states that she was born August 07, 1878 in Dothan, AL and that her parents were J.W. Carnega (another spelling of Kornegay) and that her mother was Eveline Branton (born October 19, 1851 and died September 11, 1918). It shows that both her parents were born in Houston County, AL. Her husband was John Henry Moore. (Trying to find him is another headache of a different kind.) Mary's date of death was March 16, 1923. Her nickname was Maggie. She died while living in Stockton, Lanier County, GA. That county had only been formed for a short time at the time of her death. John Henry Moore and Mary Magdelena Kornegay had the following children: Aline Moore born February 16, 1903 Thelma, Clinch County, GA Carrie Gladys Marie Moore born February 12, 1905 AL or Thelma, Clinch Co., GA Johnny Henry Moore born August 09, 1907 Thelma, Clinch County, GA Lawrence Dewey Moore October 25, 1910 born AL Florence Moore born about 1920, adopted out due to her mothers death when Florence was two or three years old. No other information is known about her. We would love to find her. Myrtle Francis Moore born August 16, 1922 in Stockton, Lanier County, GA married Richard Earl Green divorced Richard Earl Green married James David Carpenter died August 16, 1990 Jacksonville, Duval County, FL I have not been able to find Maggie and John Moore on any census in 1910 or 1920. She is listed with her parents on the 1900 census living in Geneva County, AL and shown as age 21, born Aug 1878. Her parents are shown on the 1900 census as John W. Carnegia and Eveline. I do not know where or when John Henry and Maggie married. I assume between 1900 and 1903. Does any one have anything they can add to this?? Loretta Souder johnsou@aol.com

Don't know where it will lead if anywhere but I will leave it up to your discretion as to whether you want to follow this or not. Happy hunting! Donna
Gayle, Thanks for dusting off one or two of my own personal memories of Miss Frances Kornegay. She was a cousin of my father and I remember as a child visiting her (and I believe her spinster teacher sister as well) at her home (I think) in Goldsboro. I do not have any personal recollection of Miss Frances beyond a deep sense of inhibition at being a rather active young boy in the presence of a teacher outside of a classroom. 0:-} Robert -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert L.
