Matt: I don't know if my E-mail that I wrote before I left for Texas, got to Robert or not. I was telling him that I had heard from Elizabeth KORNEGAY, in the 1970's she was trying to find information to get her granddaughter in the DAR. I don't have a wife for John Jack or any other downline. Can you supply more? The only additional info I can provide is that the second wife of Martin was Patsy Turnage (no dates or known children). The third wife of Martin was Martha Ann Turnage (no dates) with one known child, Argent (female) who married Bryant Turnage. Martin was a brother of my gggggrandmother Rockalena Kornegay. Matt

Hello Cousins - Sorry to seemingly drop off the face of the Earth from time to time, but life goes on - with or without checking your email! Imagine my chagrin this evening when I had 147 messages staring me in the face. My problem really, not yours; but I committed a tactical error that I would like to reverse if at all possible. One of my messages that came in after 6:30 PM EST tonight was 1.4 MB in size. I called my ISP and asked them to check on it. They called me back and said that the message was from a Gary Kornegay and had a picture with it and that they had deleted it. Not exactly what I asked them to do, but too late now! Gary, if you're out there, please resend it. Jerry ******************************************* Jerry Quinn 12 El Paso Court Hampton, VA 23669 USA (757) 851-0027

Gayle, Sorry, I mistakenly filed several emails before I answered them and your's was overlooked. Here are my responses to your questions: > I noticed you said your Mom name WINSLOW. Martha WINSLOW Raye was one of my > supervisor with HeadStart. Her brother Bill WINSLOW had the bank in > Goldsboro. Any relation? I do not have any of my mother's family history so I don't know where her Winslow middle name came from. That will have to be my next project! > How long will you be in Switzerland? I will be in Switzerland until mid-December when my wife and I return to eastern NC for a one-year furlough. I have vacationed in northern Italy but haven't been to southern Italy since I hitch-hiked around Europe in the early 70's. But that's another story... > You are a year older than I am. I'll have to dust off my old albums when I get back in NC to look Bobby up. > I was going to tell you I bet my Grandfather Albert Williams knew your > father. I loved traveling from farm to farm in the summer with my dad. He was a pork barbeque expert (I didn't know there was any other kind until I lived in Texas) and he knew eastern NC like the back of his hand. He seemed to never take the same road twice but there was always a barbeque lodge nearby at noon. It was during one of those summers that I mastered the art of pouring salted peanuts into my ice cold Pepsi in a moving automobile without losing a single one (or having the foam spilling over the neck of the bottle). > Did you have Mr. Eugene ROBERTS for one o f your teachers? He is a cousin > of my Grandmother Nettie Mozingo Williams. He was my minister and he > married my husband and I. No, I don't recollect Mr. Roberts. What subjects did he teach? Although I can't remember the names of my teachers, I do remember each of my football coaches. Pretty obvious where my interested lay... > It has been great strolling down memory lane with you, Robert. It is amazing, Gayle, that we lived and worked so often in the same areas yet our paths don't cross until we are thousands of miles apart. I too worked at Belks (in the old store downtown) with Miss Trudy and the "girls". I even remember when John Turnage was hired to work in the men's department. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert L. Sorry, Ruth, I made the mistake of filing your email before I answered it. I was looking through my Kornegay file and discovered I hadn't replied to your questions. 1. No, I am not an only child. I have two older sisters and an adopted younger brother: Juanita Claire Kornegay Parks Born - August 28, 1942 Irene Kelly Kornegay Gaudette Born - July 24, 1945 Robert Lee Kornegay Born - August 10, 1948 David Gregory Kornegay Born - December 1, 1964 2. The weather has been beautiful in Switzerland--mid-80's during the day and low 70's at night. We sleep with the windows open and covered with a light blanket. Yesterday a front moved in and the weather is now cloudy and in the mid-70's during the day and high 60's at night. I actually had to put a sweater on at lunch. Hi Ruth, Since you visit Carl & Thelma every other week, have you got their BDs, locations and the such information including their parents? If not, maybe you would be able to get this info and then share it with the mail-list members. Thanks. Sue in CA
Carl is still living, is bed ridden. Thelma is a wonderful person she waits on him very patiently. I try tp visit them at least every other week. Sometimes he knows me and sometimes he doesn't. Someone was writing about the ministers in the Kornegay a few days ago - Carl wasn't a minister (as such) but he ministered to the people. He was a Giedeon and lay speaker in our church (Methodist). They had a son Carl Jr "Carlie". Carlie married Linda ---- and has 2 children. Karla who marreid Curtis Brock and a son Larry. Judi and Carlyle have a daughter - who lives in Fla.
