    2. I agree on Mary A. and Mary Arnold being the same person. Sometime seeing it in other print helps. And the granddaughter Sarah mentioned in her will: Mary Elizabeth Herring is probably Joel and Mary's daughter. I need to check that out. Loretta

I have the other children born starting 1808 so William Bryan must have been born later. I have George Fisher born 1770/71, wish that had documented where I got that wedding date for Sarah HERRING and Daniel GLISSON. I have that Elizabeth "Betty" KORNEGAY b. 1788 d/o William KORNEGAY & Elizabeth OUTLAW was 2nd wife of Daniel GLISSON, don't know if it was the same Daniel GLISSON who was sheriff and member of House of Commons and Senate for many years. There is or was a Glisson Township in Duplin Co so I would imagine that the marriages took place in Duplin Co. Does anyone else have any dates for these people? Pat Hoffman

    2. I also had a question about George Fisher Kornegay and Sarah Glisson. I have Sarah's date of birth as February 24, 1791, died April 28, 1859. Does anyone know if George had another wife before Sarah that could be William Bryan's mother? I show George with 6 children: Mary Arnold Kornegay married Joel Herring Henry Robert Kornegay Mary A. Kornegay married an unknown Herring Sarah A. Kornegay married an unknown Hatch William Bryan Kornegay Joseph Kornegay I did not have dates of birth for any of the children, but this was the order I had them in. I do not have any records of where I got this info. Thanks for all the help and sharing that goes on here!!!! Loretta Souder

I have George Fisher's first child William Bryan KORNEGAY b. 1795 Hopefully someone else can fill in more information. Pat Hoffman>> Pat, I had basically the same info except the marriage date of Sarah HERRING & Daniel GLISSON. I didn't have a date. The thing that looks suspicious about this date is that unless their daughter, Sarah GLISSON, was born several years before her parents married, she would have been at most 12 years old (assuming she was born the year of her parents marriage) when she bore George Fisher's first child in 1795. I don't have any other helpful data to suggest which date is the more feasible, but I suspect either SG's parents were married earlier than 1783 or SG's son, William, was born later than 1795. Of course, it's remotely possible she had a child at 12 or was born out of wedlock by several years. I just note the descrepancy for others to help us find corroborating or refuting evidence so we can correct our dates if necessary. Matt

    2. Robert L. Kornegay - VP/Director
    3. Sue, Matt, Jerry,et al, I just searched the Swiss and German phone CDs and found no listings for Hornigh. It may be best for Gayle's friend Ralf to search the German listings as he discovered a long list of Gnaegi/Gnaegy references not included in my 1998 Deutschen Telekom AG disc. Thanks, Sue for the clues. I'm afraid I only have two days in London in September on my way to Texas, but I will see what I can find. My wife and I leave this Thursday for a week in eastern NC to meet our future son-in-law and to celebrate my big 5-0. If you are anywhere near Emerald Isle on the afternoon of Sunday, the 9th of August, you are cordially invited to join the "Bobbie Lee Jubilee" celebration at Chapel By The Sea Church. Ya'll come, ya hear! Robert -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert L. 2. In a message dated 8/3/98 2:27:42 PM, you wrote: <<I just searched the Swiss and German phone CDs and found no listings for Hornigh. >> If you get a chance, you might check the above CDs for "Kornigh" and "Konigh". I found, in searching the AOL internet find for the subject "Hornigh" it came up with one listing which was a passenger ship called the "Philidelphia" ship's passenger list of a 1732 voyage. In one place it listed Gabrial Hornigh, in a second list it showed Gabriel Konigh.... yes, the first Gabrial was with an "a" the second with the more convention spelling. The second surname was without the "r"....Konigh...not Kornigh. I suspect the descrepancy was due to two different modern researchers trying to interpret the handwriting of the original roster. It made me think...in some people's handwriting a "K" and an "H" can be hard to tell apart. Perhaps, the original name that was later copied as "Hornigh" was really "Kornigh". Matt

    1. [KORNEGAY-L] Hornigh phone search
    2. Hi Matt & all, I just did a phone search through 3 CDs for the entire U.S., and there is NO Hornigh listed. This of course does not mean that the unlisted #'s have been checked. Anybody up to the challenge of searching Germany or Switzerland for the Hornighs on a phone search? Sue in CA

    1. Re: [KORNEGAY-L] Different spellings!
    2. Hi Matt and all, My intent at this time was simply to pass on the info that I found on the CD to everyone to the mail-list. I have not found or looked for the so-called proof of these lists, but the sources were simply posted to give everyone a chance to follow their own instincts at this time. Because there are 6 sources for these list indexes of the same people who were some of the ones who wound up in the New Bern area of NC, I would imagine that finding the proof is there, but the effort needs to be made. I did not find Gnagi or Kornegay on the lists, just Hornigh, which means that is the name that these 6 sources found and listed. The years are the same with one an actual date, if I remember correctly. I would also think that the ship names would be listed in these sources particularly the ones from England. Sue in CA
