    1. [KOEHLER-L] Kohler Company, Kohler, WI
    2. Sorry I jumped the gun on my earlier message stating the founder was a son of Andreaw KOHLER III. This assumption was incorrect. The following is the KOHLER line for the Kohler Company [manufacturer of bathroom fixtures] as provided from the Kohler Company. I should have dredged up this old message before making the jump and not tried to rely on memory. I've asked to have my message removed for editing, if possible. Gene Smith, Pasadena, CA ===================================================== Date: Mon, 08 Sep 1997 10:20:44 -0400 (EDT) From: Fetterer Pete <email> Subject: KOHLER FAMILY To: John William Kohler <email> Thank you for your inquiry about the Kohler family. I am sorry to inform you that we did not find an Andreas Kohler in the Kohler family tree as it relates to the Kohlers of Kohler Co. This company was founded by John Michael Kohler in 1873. He came to the U.S. with his parents from the Bregenzerwald area of Austria when he was 10 years old. The family, which was large, eventually settled near St. Paul, Minn. When John Michael finished high school, he got a job in Chicago as a traveling salesman. His territory included the city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on the western shore of Lake Michigan midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay. There he met and married the daughter of the owner of a small foundry and machine shop. He even- tually bought his father-in-law's business, and that business grew to the Kohler Co. we know today. The current president, Herbert Kohler, is a grandson of John Michael Kohler. We can send you additional information about the Kohlers if you'll let us know you postal mailing address. =======================================================
