This is the first time I have made a posting to this group and it would be great to hear from someone with a connection. My GGGG Grandmother was FRIEDERICA KOELERN born 18th April 1763 in Drenkow Mecklenburg. Her father was JOHANN KOELER, possibly a tailor from Drenkow. FRIEDERICA KOELERN married my GGGG Grandfather JOCHIM HINRICH BERGMANN, the Master Smith in Spornitz Mecklenburg on the 23rd November 1791. This was Jochims second marriage. FRIEDERICA BERGMANN nee KOELER is recorded as dying of TB or a related complaint on the 13th January 1828. By that time she was recorded as the SMITHS WIDOW 64 3/4 years of age born in Drhnkow/Suckow. Friederica Bergmann nee Koeler was the Midwife of Spronitz for many years. If I have confused anyone with spelling Koeler two ways, we have found that the old church records in this area of Mecklenburg added a "n" to the female version of surnames. We found this a common practice in this area for quite a long period of time. Has anyone else found this in other areas of Germany? I would be very interested to hear if anyone is also researching any of these people and anything at all about Drenkow and Spornitz. My email address is: nbergman@gil.com.au Thanks in advance.
