Hi - I'm brand new to the list, so please let me know if I do anything incorrectly. Thanks. I am looking for a Mr./Mrs. Henry Koehler w/two children who were listed as relatives attending my ggrandfather's funeral in Bremer County, Iowa in Oct., 1926. They are identified as being from Chicago. Other relatives names listed are Liser, Shiestel, Bohnen, and Gieb, also from Chicago. They attended the funeral of Joseph Schaefer. Joseph evidently was orginally Catholic, but married a Lutheran lady. He was from Hesse-Nassau, if that has any bearing. No one is alive who remembers where any of these relatives lived except in "Chicago". Joseph Schaefer had a brother, "Jake", at least one sister, Margaret (who married a Liser), and possibly a sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie), who may have married a Gieb. Was there another sister who married a Koehler? A grandaughter does remember meeting the Koehler and Gieb relatives as a small child, but nothing else. I don't even know if there were any children, other than for the Koehler bunch. Any clues here would be more than gratefully accepted. I am trying to determine the county and/or location where any of these people lived. If I can help with any Koehler names here in Bremer County, Iowa (NE Iowa), I will be more than happy to do so. We have some Koehler families still in this area. I have records that go back to 1875 and also, cemetery records, if you have an idea of location. Sorry for the length of this message, but I tried to explain it as best I could. Thank you for any assistance you might be able to provide. Karlyn kdka@netins.net
