Hello fellow rooters... Let me introduce myself.... My name is Gary KAHLER, and I've been searching for my family information for only 6 years now... I am in the US Navy and currently live in San Diego, California. So far, my brick wall is my g grandfather. Christian William KOEHLER was born somewhere :-) in Germany 15 Aug 1872. His father and stepmother (his father's second wife, both whose names are unknown to me) took their children to America in 1876/77 (the entrance port is also unknown at this time). His surname when he was born was KOEHLER with an umlaut over the "o". Sometime after he grew up, he changed the spelling of his name to KAHLER. He settled down in the area of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He married Agnes Hope STALKER on 4 Nov 1903 (Marriage Index Book 13 Page 297, Kent County Building, Grand Rapids, MI). They had 7 kids with only two surviving past infancy. Mary Elizabeth KAHLER born 6 Jun 1914, died a spinster in Dade City, Florida, 25 Sep 1991. Paul Christian KAHLER born 15 Oct 1907, was my grandfather, died 30 May 1962, South Haven, MI.
