Hi Steve, Well that manuscript provided two important things and I'm only on page 3. It proves Andrew KOHLER of Juniata Co, PA and Andrew KOHLER III born in Adams Co, PA [grandson of Andrew Kohler the immigrant] are the same person. It said that Andrew died on 3 Jul 1869 at the age of 73 years 7 months 7days. Well that computes to 26 Nov 1794 and we have the church record of Andrew III's birth of 25 Nov 1795. I'll bet that is a math error of one day or error in recording or memory of the birthday. The second thing was I've been trying to figure our who the Kohlers of the Kohler company were. I can't lay my hands on it now but I've got a copy of mail from the Kohler company and all they knew was he came from PA. What a surprise to learn that Andrew 3rd's son Charles is that founder. Such excitement to establish these links after working the Kohler line for 18 years. Regards, Gene Smith [gsmithsan@aol.com] Pasadena, CA

Earlier this week, while scrounging around our FHC, I came upon three early Northampton County wills on LDS film #0946457: KEAHLER, Sibilla, widow of Michael, Vol. 1, page 56, 1769. KOHLER, Peter, Vol. 2, page 234, 1793. KELLER, Christopher, Vol. 2, page 312, 1795. I looked into the first of these some more. Sibilla KEAHLER, widow of Michael of Upper Milford, left her estate to her children Elizabeth Catherine, Elizabeth Sibilla, and Jacob. It also gives a bequest to a daughter Elizabeth, wife of Frederick Weisel, who may be the same as one of the other daughters, or not. Doug Murphy - douglasmurphy@lucent.com Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Sharon, I have some information on a PETER KAYLOR. There was a biography in a Cambria County, PA History, don't have the year, on a HAROLD G. KAYLOR. His greatgrandfather was Peter Kaylor, founder of the family in this country, emigrated to America from Germany and settled in PA 1765. He was in the Rev. War under Washington. After the war he settled in Adams County, not far from Gettysburg. His children were: 1.- Peter, who came to Cambria county in 1799, having followed Prince Gallitzin when that pioneer priest came to Loretto. He settled about wo miles from Loretto, at what is now known as KAYLOR STATION, and married CATHARINE ADAMS, a member of the family in whom Adams county was named afer; 2-Jacob;3 - Helen. There is more on JACOB KAYLOR and his son JAMES J. KAYLOR. I have some of the Church records for St. Michael's Parish, Loretto, PA, 1793 - 1899. But no Philip listed. This Loretto settlement is known in Cambria, perhaps you have already researched it. My Kaylor line (DANIEL HENRY KAYLOR and his son JOHN KAYLOR was b there in 1836) was in Cambria, too, for a short time and do not appear to be related to this bunch. Mine were also in York, possibly Adams, Indiana and later Lawrence Co PA before migrating to IN by 1860 Census. This probably doesn't help, but maybe it will help someone else. Don: Casper Kohler was a brother to my g-grandfather, Donald_Ludwig@mail.amsinc Nicholas Kohler. They lived on Swiss Hill Road in Jeffersonville, NY and their dwellings (updated of course) are still there. They both died the same day, within about five minutes of each other and are buried in adjoining lots in the Presbyterian cenetery outside J-ville NY I have a lot of information to share if you are interested...maybe even more data than you want! The 1917 McKnight History of Jefferson County, PA reports the following: 1. P. 530: Charles Phineas McMinn (b. 5 Feb. 1873 in Snyder Twp., Jeff. Co.) married on 28 Nov. 1900 to Amelia Kohler, born 15 April 1877 at Ridgway, PA. Caspar Kohler, grandfather of Mrs. McMinn, was a native of Switzerland, coming to America when young. In New York State he married Lucy Ruff and they had children as follows: John C., Caspar, Emma, Lucy, William, Charlotte, Wallace, Albert, and Robert. John C. Kohler, father of Mrs. McMinn, was born 23 March 1848 at Jeffersonville, NY and died 6 Oct. 1898 at Island Run, PA, being buried in the cemetery at Ridgway. In Sullivan Co., NY he married Caroline Neiger, a native of that county, born 18 March 1850, who now lives with her children. They were the parents of the following family: Charlotte, Mrs. Charles Hobart of Liberty, NY; Amelia, Mrs. Charles P. McMinn; Walter, of Marlinton, WV, who married Carrie Muffitt; and Edwin, of Rockton, PA, who married Vida McMinn... 2. Claude K. Hawthorne, born in Beaver Twp., Jeff Co. on 1 May 1872. Married in 1896 to Louisa Koehler, who was born in Mountain Home, Monroe Co., PA, the daughter of Philip Koehler. 3. Vida Annetta McMinn, born 4 Sept. 1887, married Edwin Kohler, and they have 2 children: John Chester and Emma Harriet.
Yes, exactly. Warren Motz Koher, son of John Andrew Kohler, is my great grandfather. Is this information you already had, or did you have to look it up? This Andrew Kohler, native of Adams County is the one that I have a birthdate of 1795. This is the Andrew that I'm trying to link to the York Kohlers. Anna Maria Brenishols has been a mystery, I have her parents as John (b. 1771 d.8/8/1827) md to Anna Maria. I have not been able to find any other members of this family other than a brother and sister of Anna Maria. Admittidly, I was looking for Brannishols, that might have been my problem. Do you have anything else on Brenishol/Brannishol? I have the manuscript in a Word document that I will try to remember to bring to work tomorrow. I will probably just attach it and send you an email directly, unless you would like it sent another way. Thanks for your Word document, I can't wait to go home and go through it! Greetings- My wifes family history has the tradition of the "Three Brothers" from Germany. However I find that the passenger list, actually a quarterly report in 1824, for the Port of Baltimore shows only the Joseph Koller family. It is possible that two other brothers did come to the US on another boat or at another time. ============= Stark County, OH >From the Common Pleas Journal Vol C Pg 555 Session: Mon, 4 Aug 1828 Joseph Koller an alien comes into Court here and on his oath Saith that it is bonafied his intention to become a citizen of the United States, to renounce forever all allegiance to every foreign prince, potentate, State or sovereignty whatsoever and particularly to the Republic of Switzerland of which he is a Citizen. [no further citizenship papers were found] =========== Joseph won't be found in census records with the Koller spelling. Gary gwilson@telebyte.net

Hello, I am new to the Koehler List server, so I may be asking for help about topics already discussed. I am looking for validation/information concerning a John Koehler, b. 6 May 1708 in Neckarkreis, Germany. He died in 1782 in Emmaus, Northampton Co. PA. His daughter was Anna Catharina Koehler, b. 17 Aug. 1744 in Emmaus, Northampton Co,d. 25 Dec. 1814. PA. She married John Jacob Fahs, b. 3 May 1741 in Emmaus, Northampton Co. PA, d. 27 feb. 1813. They were married in the Moravian Church in Emmaus, and both died in York Co. PA. Does anyone have more information on these KOEHLERs. Any help, such as when John Koehler arrived, his German ancestors, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Sheffer
