Is anyone on the list a rare book/pamphlet collector? Abebooks.com has for sale by Wm Reese co an 1835 pamphlet called "Catalogue of Paintings, by Colonel Trumbull, Five Subjects of the American Revolution . . . . Now Exhibiting . . . .American Academy of the Fine Arts . . . . " Published in New York by Nathaniel B. Holmes, 1835. It is 23 pages and is selling for $325. No, this is not a joke. The very scarce pamphlet (5 copies in existence) describes (no pictures) five paintings by John Trumbull, including our very own "Death of General Warren at the Battle of Bunker Hill" that included our Col. Thos. Knowlton. In addition, it is possible that the publisher is another relative of mine whom I have been trying to track down for a while in NYC. The Holmes/Dana/Knowlton marriages took place mid-19th c in NYC. Anyway, just a thought. I would like to own such an item myself so thought I would pass on the description. Elizabeth W. Knowlton
