Well, the Laytons from Laytonville in northern California were from the original Canadian Layton Family and there is a book written by a Layton (I have a copy) that outlines the Canadian lineage and some of the branches. Unfortunately it has mine, actually, Lovina's slightly incorrect. If you are related to the Layton's I'm very sure they are related in some way! The Laytons scattered far and wide and there is a large population in California (that's where I live, by the way).
