Watsonville, Santa Cruz, California father: John GLASS mother: Amanda Silvana STILLWELL James and Mary KNOWLTON had the following children: 1. Viola May 2. Edna "Dolly" Faye 3. James "Jimmy" Alanson, Jr. 4. Robert "Bobby" Leroy 5. William "Billy" Leroy 6. Mary Catherine James and Mary's children are my third cousins. Are you related to these KNOWLTON's? Bill Hart
Hi Bill Hart, I picked up on the thread of your messages with Paula, and then --- in the course of trying to research some of the names in my own database --- found something interesting that I would like to run past you for advice and comment: None of the names mentioned seem to fit with Stocking & the Errata. This could be simply because all of the 19th century dates fall rather late in the century. But, there is only one Alanson KNOWLTON, and his dates and descendants don't seem to fit; and, the other surnames; LACEY, RUMBLE, GLASS, and STILLWELL seem not to be there at all. Can you connect any of these names to earlier occurrences in any venue? I am attracted to this question because I am trying to build a database of KNOWLTONs --- NOT proven to connect to the 1600s earliest Massachusetts lot I am related to a large gang of KNOWLTONs centered in western NY during most of the 1800s; some number of whom moved on to MI --- but not CA. Although I did have a great-grandfather, Charles Pulaski KNOWLTON who lived there for a few years after the Civil War. He was Purser of the SS Senator, moving gold from Sacramento down the coast to Los Angeles. Also managed the Pico House in LA for a few years. I am here in central Connecticut.
