    3. Hi, Paul: "Consort" is a term that was often used interchangably with "spouse" in earlier years. I find this especially true in epitaphs. I wouldn't base any conclusion whatever on the use of the term "consort" instead of "wife", as to the writer it was (in every case I have seen) just a traditional way of saying exactly the same thing.
