This has happened both with the largest cities (e.g. Toronto and Montreal) as well as with many smaller centres. So Knowlton, Que. has disappeared - as have Bondville, East Hill, Foster, Fulford, Iron Hill, and West Brome - into the aggregation now referred to as Ville de Lac Brome. This foolishness has not been restricted to Quebec - Ontario has made even more of a mess of it. Cheers, Ken M. ========== Hi, Ken: You are quite right. One of my treasured photos is of my grandfather, Derrick Dutton, standing in front of a large highway sign for Dutton, in Ontario. Now I have to explain why the sign existed, because the community doesn't. Darrell Knowlton and Dutton descendant Darrell A. Martin a native Vermonter in exile in Illinois darrellm@sprynet.com
