Some of you may have noticed that I have entered a second wife for Thomas Knowlton (ca 1720-1801) of Ulster Co., NY, ca 1750-1770s. After getting the hint from someone else's entry that an Ann Clugston/Clugstone/Cluxton/Claxton of Fairfield Co., CT, had married Thomas Knowlton of Ulster Co., NY, in the 18th century, I appealed to a friend who has done a lot of CT genealogy. Ann appears in Donald Jacobus' FAMILIES OF OLD FAIRFIELD [also known as FOOF] and a fair amount of information was available on her. She was not young when she married after 1759 [wills are the source of her name change rather than a marriage record] and seems to have been Thomas' second wife. This all fits in OK with Thomas Jr's Bible record where he says he is the son of Thomas and Ann(a). I have amended my list of children to fit this new development but am still not confident that all are Thomas' or where they fit in, particularly the women. Stocking's birthdates for most of the men are from their Revolutionary War pension records as are the birthplaces. Elizabeth W. Knowlton
