I have been looking for my Knowlton's for years and I am not having any luck and yet all of the naming patterns match the Knowlton's in the USA and England. I am descended from Joseph Knowlton(c1780) and his wife Hannah of Eling, Minstead, England. Who were these people descended from? Help!!! I have just reread all the posts to this Knowlton board and it's funny that my family naming patterns continue right into my mothers generation. The post from Bruce Knowlton on August 20, 2000 is especially curious as I had a great uncle named William Appleton Knowlton. He was the son of Alfred Walter Knowlton, who came to Canada in 1886 as a British Homechild. My William Appleton was born in Canada and died in Canada. But it seems to me that the second name Appleton is not a common name and I wonder where it came from. Especially combined with Wi! lliam. Mine is Canadian and I think Bruces was American. My link is directly from England to Canada only about 125 years ago and yet the American line seems to be about 500 years. Anyway, I guess when I get frustrated I ramble-sorry list but any help would be appreciated.
